Wheel/Tire size on 5-lug conversion

This is my first post...live in Alaska and just bought a clean 88 notch 5.0 that had the rear converted to 5-lug. Waiting on my front 5-lug conversion from Late Model Restoration. Want to buy some new wheels/tires that will look a little old-school...maybe 15 or 16 inch Weld Prostars. I've read a maximum rear wheel size is 17x9-inch with 275/50 17s are the tallest/widest rear tires that will fit comfortably inside the wheelwells without modifying them or narrowing the rear end. What's the largest/widest rear 15 or 16 inch wheel/tire combo that will fit with out mods? Any recommendations for dealers? Shipping to Alaska is spendy.

you ca put a 15x12 under there but with a lot of hammer pounding. i run a 15x10 with 6.0BS. if i were you i would just do a 15x9 with 5.5BS and be done with it. you wont have any problems. and do a 275/50/15

a 12" wheels? its gonna look like a 3rd gen camaro with half the wheel sticking out. you can run a 10" wheels with 6.5 back space, but thats pushing it. the usual is a 15x8 with 5.5 back spacing and a 275/50/15. you can run a 275 60, but its pretty tall.
