right now I have weld drag lites on it, the front is fine but the rear ones rub the outside wheel well. I rolled the finder and it still rubs over bumps. the tires are 235/60/15 bfg drag radials. The rims have 3 1/2" backspacing. I want to put a 265/50 on it so should I go with a 4 1/2 or 5 1/2 backspacing?

3.5 BS????????

What where you smoking when you bought them?

On a 15x7 the pop choice is 3.75 but the best fit comes in 4.25
on a 15x8 the best fit comes in a 4.75...I suggest double checking the chart though...I'm pulling these numbers off the top of my head ;)

wheels

dont do what i did and order 3\3\4 backspace for my 69mach1 on both front and back, the fronts are ok but the 275-15-60 hit the wheel opening hard on big bumps not good, anyway im ordering custom wheels american racing torque thrust11's for the back this winter to late now, 4\3-4 should do but im going to double check it this time.

well, I didn't know much about backspacing when I bought them(still don't really). Summit said those would fit though. THey said that the welds only come in 4 1/2 and 5 1/2. I don't know if 1" more would be enough for the 265/50 but would the 5 1/2 be too much? 5 might be perfect if they made one, I don't know.
