Wheels?

I'd like too get your opionon on these wheels on my car. The cars a 1966 Mustang Coupe and i'm looks at a set of 17x9 '95 True Cobra R wheels. A guy i work with has a set on his 99 Steeda mustang and is switching too Steeda Ultralite I wheels. Theye are in really good shape (except a little bit of the crear coat is coming off, but still looks sweet) and come with Nitto ZR 555 tires (245/45/17's with abour 65-70% tread left, car only gets drove around town-really low milage car) Here's a pic og what stlye rim it is, but his are 5 lug-pic is 4 lug ones.

I've seen a few 65/66 with these wheels and they look good.

Agreed...at least in the front.

Plus..245's on a 9" wide rim doesn't look right. The rim will be wider than the rubber. Ask me how I know

I'll 3rd that one...8" is as big as you can hope to go, 7" is better

If you like that look - find a set of 98 cobra wheels. They are 17x8 and look about the same.

A friend of mine had the fronts narrowed and did not need spacers for them. He did some horse trading to get them so the $100 each to narrow them did not bother him. If you can get them right, you still won't have too much in them. Most people running newer wheels have money in spacers which you might not need if you have them modified.

i might just buy a set of either 7 or 8" for the front and save the other two 9's and put some drag radials on them for track use? Or yea, have the narrowed. Having them narrowed too 8", that'll allow me not too have spacers? The rear end isn't the original 9" rear and is about an 1-1 1/4 wider each side so the rears fit really nice. Thanks for all your opinions and advise on this.

Isn't the bolt pattern different on a '95 Mustang. I mean, I thought the spacers do two things, one is to compensate for the huge backspacing that late models run, and the other is to convert to the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern.

Also, no way is a 17 x 9 going to fit in the front of a '66. I put a 17 x 8 with 5.0 backspacing on my kids' '65 and had to add a 7/32" spacer to clear the upper ball joint, and also had to cut a bit out of the pinch weld in the wheel house on the passenger side. So now I'm clear on the inside, but the outside shoulder is riiiight on the fender lip, and it's rolled. Another inch would not fit. I guess you could grind on the ball joint housing and create a quarter to a half inch there, and add a bolt to the spindle stop on your strut rod to limit steering travel. But then you still need another half inch from the fenders. Maybe a Godzilla fender roll could find a half inch there, but I doubt it. An 18 x 9 with a steering stop might work, because it could clear the ball joint, but not a 17"
