When my MSD hits the rev limiter the car drops dead, normal?

I took it up to the rev limiter today to see if the rev limit pill I got works...As soon as I hit 6k, the RPMs looked like they fell 1000rpms after hitting it, then I shifted. I was expecting it to hang near the limit like those imports do all the time..... I have an MSD 6AL with a 6k limit pill. Is this how it is supposed to work or should the RPMs stay up there??

Did you stay in it or take your foot off the gas? If you stay in it, it should continue to bounce...but if you took your foot off the gas it will fall like normal.

All I remember is it hitting the limiter, then bounching a little past 5k, and I let of and shifted....

Put the test chip that comes with it in and drive around so you can see what happens...that should help out.

I bought it used, all I got was the box and intsructions, I had to buy the 6k pill of someone, therfore my reason for testing it...

Well, it sounds like it's probably working, but I'd find someone local who has the 3k RPM test chip (comes with everything), and pop it in to see what happens....just so you know before hitting 6k.
