I am going crazy trying to decide on my paint scheme for my 88 gt......I was thinking about a dark blue, maybe electric blue would be cool, with white stripes and black pony's with a polished lip. Does anyone have pics of a stangg like this? What do you think of the idea? Any nice blues that you guys know of?

I put it in tech because im trying to get some specific color codes for a nice blue. Im looking for technical information on polishing the rims also. Just wanted to get a picture or an idea for an example to use first.....sorry if the way I presented it sounded kinda "talky".

What's wrong with the red that's on the car now. Remember, if you paint blue over a red car you'd have to paint the door jams and all the little crevaces that will be seen. You should paint the engine bay too, but that would be a real pain to diassemble everything. If I were you, I'd repaint the car red if your paint isn't in great shape.

I personally prefer to keep a car the original color.

Reason being it's tough to do it right. It looks very cheap to pop the hood and see a white engine bay on a black car. Same thing with the doors and hatch.

ANyway, unless you plan on painting everything, i say keep the stock color. It hurts the value of the car when time to sell it as well

Im painting the whole car, interior, frame, engine bay, etc. You guys know of any ford blue color codes that I could use? Or maybe a cool color scheme that was used in a special year mustang. Or a rare stang color scheme. Maybe I will try and pull some ford colors together and make something up.....

Azure Blue (code L5) was a 03-04 Mach 1 only color. Probably only 3000 cars were produced in this color

Sonic Blue (SN) and True Blue (L2) were common production blues that were nice. Pretty common color though.

Bright Atlantic Blue (K7) is another rare shade of blue used on '98 Cobras and '99 GT's. Only about 8000 cars came in this color.

Atlantic Blue (K6) is a little darker, but it's also a more common color..about 30,000 cars made in it.

Teal (RD) had about 20,000 cars made in that color.

Midnight Blue (KM) was used 96-97 and came on about 15,000 cars.

Here's a pic of my brother's '85 Gt. It's painted 1993 Ford Ranger Splash Blue. I don't have the exact color code, but Ford also used it on the '94 Escorts.

I've seen SN95 GT's and V6's and New Edge V6's in BAB, so I wouldn't count that info entirely as gospel.

I was thinking black would be kinda the easy way out.....it looks awesome dont get me wrong but its just so easy to be like "black!" I just want something a little different than the norm but still badass.....Hiising cobra I love your bros car.....when you guys go out you must get alot of attention! Thanks for all the color codes, thats exactly what I was trying to figure out.

just got my car painted, I went with the red they use on the vw/audi's from white. I waaaasss going to get it painted sonic blue, that's one of the best blue IMO but since I already had a sonic blue 5.0 I didn't want to do it agian. Have you considered the blue they use on the new SI's? That's a nice blue too. Good luck on your choice!!!

Sonic blue is a bad ass color, if i was gonna go with blue, i'd do that. There is a guy on here that has two different blues that fade together, perhaps he'll throw up a picture for ya, it looks sharpe.

Sure Thing....
Its Sonic Blue in the front and the rear is a custom blue similar to the stock ultra blue that was originally on my car. Originally thought the sonic was pretty rare but I have seen numerous foxes on here painted that color.

Another thing is that a good paint job for a complete color change isnt going to be cheap. I left the rear my car close to the original color so I didnt have to paint the door jams and hatch. I will only have to paint the engine bay Sonic Blue when I swap the engine out. Thats your decision though. Good Luck.

My freind had a red 87 GT and did a complete color change to blue. He did it right though. Took off all ground effects, moulding, etc. Sanded it completely (door jams, underneath hatch, engine bay, everything). He then had it painted and re-assembled it all. It came out really good.
