Where can I get comps for a 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT hatchback?

The insurance company wants me to come up with at least 2 comps that must be same year, bodystyle, Get VIN number, phone number and price it sold for in California.
Just where does one get this kind of info?

Prices of Other Mustang GT's like a 1988 Mustang GT 5.0 hatchback are selling for in excellent condition with 222,000 miles. This gives an idea of what the car is really worth.

I'd get another insurance company. They should be the one finding out this info, not you.

I did this with my car back when I had an accident. I was lucky there were tons for sale. In your case you might not be able to find this. I assume this is in regards to an accident and you wanting to get the real world value of the car vs the book value. In that case it is in YOUR best interest to do the research and find what cars in your area are going for. I wouldn't trust the research someone else does.

With mine I found cars slightly above and below mine in mileage, with very similar options, broke them down into a nice chart, and sent that to them. It worked out, as I got $4000+ more than I owed and a bunch more than book value on it.

As for where to find these cars. Craigslist, Autotrader, special interest possibly? Not sure if one of them holds more value than the other though, and not sure if they discount it if the cars don't sell. I only needed to find what cars were being sold for, not what the final prices were.

State Farm also wants VIN numbers to these cars and the final selling price of these cars. How does one find this out?

Seems to me that they are trying to make things difficult.

How do yu find that out? Call the owner up and say "Ph, btw what did you sell the car for? Can you get it notarized??"

What about ebay auctions?? Search completed auctions in Cali and print out the ones that help your cause.

If you need a high price get a mustang trader.They are all over priced here in Chicago ill send you a magazine.

The Mustang GT must be a California car. Those publications are good but couldn't find any on a 1988.
I have tried E-bay too with no luck as most of those are convertibles.

Mike, I know when I did this I had to find similar year, make, model, options and mileage had to be close in either or both directions. I however did not need to show what they ended up selling for, or need vin numbers. I guess when you have a car like an old fox you really can have anything from a $500 hooptie to a $15,000 show car. It sounds to me like they will do anything in their power to give you book value.

Sorry about the misfortune, but trying to find a few close mileage, 88 GTs in CA that have sold recently is going to be near impossible!

This is so far true. I have also been using internet to search for one that is comparable to this one but it is almost like trying to find a Shelby Mustang. In 1988 they made 68,000 Mustang GT's.

How do you print and locate on E-bay those cars that sold with the prices on them? All of them so far have been the cars that are for sale.
