Where does the fuel injector get it's signal from?

Well I did replace the entire distributor twice over. Within 2 weeks of replacing the original one.

Unless it was a Motorcraft dizzy, I would not rule it out.

Maybe I'll replace it again for kicks and see what happens. I'll report my findings later today.
