I agree. I've never seen the benefit of gapping wide. There are alot of things to consider when you gap them other than just the ignition system. The main thing is cylinder pressure. The more you have the tighter you should gap the plugs. This means higher compression or aggressive ramped camshafts that build cylinder pressure. I run mine at .040. I'd say 92Stang302's combo would work well at about .045 /.050 at most.

The bigger gaps suggested were specifically directed at 92Stang's naturally aspirated combo. The bigger the gap, the bigger the spark - that's the advantage. You are correct however - when boost or extreme cylinder pressures are involved, the gap usually has to come down to maintain spark integrity unless you've got enough ignition juice to run the wider gaps. As a practical matter on 92Stang's combo - .040, .050., .055......it probably won't make a whole heck of a lot of difference. Mine run at .054" with superb drivability and fuel mileage.

I run mine at .060, have for years with no probs. I have stock ignition, and agree that if you are NA then go as wide as you can for optimum burn.
