I have had many emissions inspections on other cars before but this year was the first for the ’00 S281-SC. I shouldn’t have been worried as cars of this year are covered under a 7 year / 70,000 mile warrantee on emissions related parts and systems. Still, it is a Ford and the major headaches I have had over minor Saleen related issues cause me to dread the day the car doesn’t pass the test. Also, the car has an X-pipe. It’s catted but I know the pair doesn’t clean up hydrocarbons as well as the four-cat Ford H-pipe under heavy-footed driving.
I took the car to a guy I know from the days (’86 – ’93) when I worked in auto repair/smog checks. He didn’t question the X-pipe or the MAC CAI. The emissions readings were in the low side of the range.
Well that’s it. No big news really but it is something positive about my Ford/Saleen.
