I just ordered my richmond tranny and need a bellhousing. I have a 157 tooth fly wheel and it is going on a 351. Any ideas on sourcing the correct bell?

Thanks in advance

Eric

You need to find out what the input shaft length is and what bolt pattern the Richmond has first. Also with a 157 tooth flywheel, and a 351, you're going to need a serious clutch and pressure plate to handle the torque with a 10 to 10.5 inch clutch. Something at least along the lines of a CenterForce Dual friction clutch P/P setup.

Already have the centerforce dual friction clutch. I was hoping ot source an used oem bell housing. I ordered richmond trans 7041710A. Should be same exact as top loader.

thanks Eric

If that's a six bolt bell, yea. I'm using a late 60's bell with the same flywheel in my Ranger for it's Toploader 4 speed. Make sure you either install Heli-coils in the 4 bolt holes for the transmission, or make sure the threads are OK, then use bolts that will extend all the way into the holes.
