which brand of tires generally tend to run wide or small?

I have heard a lot about certain tire brands, like BF Goodrich, who's tires seem to run wider than other brands.. Which brands generally tend to run wider/smaller than others? For example i've hard that many people have been able to a 315 nitto drag radial on a 17x9" rim with no problems, as nittos run small. I'm getting some 285/35's for my rear and wanna get something that is gonna generally run kinda wide for that size.. what should i go with?

I would suggest going to Tirerack.com and put in that wheel size. Then when you see what brands are available, click on the "specs" tab for that brand and you can see the sizes. Plus each tire manufacturer usually has a spec page for their tires.

...Which is still all very confusing to me.

I know Nittos run slightly smaller than most brands.
