which cam

Easiest cam upgrade for our cars would have to be the crane powermax cam.........................2031 grind. It is designed for our 1.7 RR's so its just a quick switch. With most other cams(all i think) you have to buy different length sized pushrods to accomodate the new cam or just buy different RR's but those can get pricey. I say go with the 2031. With a completely stock 94/95 cobra motor it will give you around 20hp to the wheels and it pulls harder in every gear. The power band is very linear and it has a good torque curve as well.

Steeda 19#, Trick Flow stage 1, FTI are all badass cams for a bolt on cobra, but the 2031 is the easiest install since it was basically designed for a 5.0 cobra engine. To pick one up i would try ebay(longshot) or the classifieds in a stang forum. Fordpower.net, corral.net, superstallions.net, etc are all good places to find one. Or you can go to Summitracing.com and pick up the cam and the valvespring kit up new for around $300 shipped.

How do you figure easier to install? All require the front of the motor to be torn apart and all require a little prayer before, hoping you don't bash out one of the cam bearings. :D

There's no such thing as one cam being "harder" to install then the next in the same motor....

What i'm sayin is with the Crane 2031 you do not need different size pushrods and you already have the 1.7 RR's. With the others you......don't. That's all.

You could be right, however, I wouldn't use that as a selling point, especially if you're using 1.7 rockers. The perfect length pushrod can come down to a difference of a couple of hundredths of an inch - 0.0xx. Saying definitively that you DO NOT need different sized pushrods is a bit misleading. I do understand what you mean though.

Tom - Crower are my favorite OTS cams. That one you mentioned or the 15511 w/ 1.7's would work well.

but I have not seen anyone in a SN car try one yet on the boards.

Myself and MattZ28 both have the Crower cam. Matt's car dynoed over 300 rwhp prior to installation of his KB blower. Suprisingly, we both have almost the exact same combo. I hope to get mine on the dyno next month.

I wont say bad things about other cams, but this one works for me!

Actually...the 2031 is one of the few aftermarket cams that you WILL most likely need new pushrods with. Cobra's MIGHT get away with the stock ones but many people who use that cam have run into pushrod issues.

the local race mechanic who is doin my valve job after i'm finished with the heads recomended i just stay with the cobra cam to keep the balance of the engine...did cobras come stock with doulbe roller timing vs chain...and if not should i go with one since i am doin all the work right now
