Hi everyone. I just joined this group and was wondering what are the best cams to install and what brand is better? I have a 2000 mustang GT with a 03 mach 1 engine swap, jlt cold air intake. t-45 tranny. long tubes headers, h-box mid, super 10s mufflers. Im looking at stage 2 cams and want that nice loping sound at idle. I know so far im going to need valve springs and retainers but my main focus is the cam right now. COMPCAMS, Trickflow, Crower? which is better and why?

Welcome to the page.
I have an 03 GT w/ bbk longtubes, bbk o/r x-pipe, with borla exhaust along with cushman stage 2 n/a cams, so similar exhaust mods as you.
I did tons on research on cams and came up with cushman, formally known as VT. Anyways, i decided on these because it seemed like everybody went with comp cams, which is fine, heard nothin but good things on them i just wanted to be different. Trickflow is also a good brand, but not as choppy with the idle. What's your future plans with the car? forced induction or n/a? If your going with a supercharger/turbo/spray later on then go ahead and get blower cams. n/a cams will work with forced induction but you wont see quite the power gains as you would with blower cams. Heads up, if you get blower cams, ive been told they arent as loud/choppy as n/a ones.

Thanks for replying bro, over 112 people viewed my post but no one responded except you. i recently purchased comp cam stage 2 with the retainers and springs. i was looking for a video on how it would sound on a 4V n/a engine but everyones 4V is boosted. my plan was to build the engine to 600+ without boost. i want my car to chop but not to much to were is sounds like its struggling to stay on but i want people to hear that i have cams. i mite do boost in the future but its alot to worry about especially in cold weather. im trying to build a REAL street car. one with enough power to run anything and still take a turn. Not just go straight.

Find a good reputable dyno and get a good tune and u should be fine, might want to make sure your getting enough fuel, i had that problem with mine and had to get 24lb injectors and a bigger fuel pump (walboro 255). Also, you might want to look into forged internals if your lookin to make that much power in the future. The stock bottom end is good to around 450 or so from what i hear. Of course some guys are running stock bottom end with 500+ hp and they are fine but it’s a problem waiting to happen

yea bro your right, i got my tune done after my engine swap was done but i know after my cams im going to have to do it again. i seen people add crazy horsepower on a stock bottom end and its confusing to me how people end up doing it, i am going to get forged internals in the future MAYBE if i boost it. i dont know yet about boost cause its alot to worry about. even if its cold outside lol. im also looking at parts to add on to at the same time for possible boost in the future. finding anything for a 4 valve engine is hard.
