How does the 4.6 DOHC Motor Hold to Blowers, That will be My first Mod, And is there any differences between the the motors of the 96-98's? Im looking for a Adult Owned low mileage Cobra, I like the 94-95's But they are going for to much, the 96-98 just seems like a smart Buy, I just worried about how it will hold up with 8lbs of boost with stock lower end. Any feedback would helpm thanks.

with only 8lbs of boost the motor should hold up fine, i would change the radiator though to keep it cool, also go with the aftercooler...its good for more hp!

The DOHC 4.6's love blowers.. 8lbs should be fine...

remember the most important thing you have to watch for is your tune... Make sure you have a nice A/F ratio. I would suggest and SCT tune

they should def be able to hold up... plus look at the hood on the 96-98's... they look better then the older ones in my opinion.

96-98 for sure.

You may even be able to find one that's still stock, for reasonable money.

Blower: Yes, get it tuned properly. However, no matter how good the install/ tune, you will lose reliability, as with any power adder. NOS/ S-trim will shorten the life of your motor/ driveline; not a bad thing, just something to keep in mind.

I just picked up mine with 75,000 miles for $11,000. It did have a Borla exhaust but that's close enough to stock.

I've had both blown 5.0's and 4.6's and the cost and complexity increases quite a bit with the 32v 4.6...

Your choice should take this into account. I ran the piss out of my 92 coupe with 9lbs and it never gave me a problem. And when I say I ran it hard I mean it...redline every time it was out, streetracing every weekend...etc. I sold it with 85k miles and it was still running strong.

I also had a 97 cobra vert and blew a ringland with 10lbs of aftercooled boost with less than 10,000 miles sc'ed. You need to expect a rebiuld with either motor...it will be more expensive with the 4.6.

I can say that the 32v motor really responds to a blower and sounds like heaven through a full exhaust. If you don't have $5k sitting somewhere for a rebiuld you may want to reconsider...or look for a car that's been biult...fwiw

I'm considering getting a 8# blower too, and with @ 37,000 on my motor now. Was wondering how much shorter of a lifespan are we talking about and what about reliability? If it's properly tuned and maintained, how badly is reliability affected? If i put one on now, and say 4-5 track nights a year, and occasional 6700 rpm runs on the street, how many more miles will i get?

Your '92 was the last year that the 5.0 engine was equipped with forged pistons. Well, except for my friends '93- must have had the leftover '92 engines so they put the forged piston model in his car.
