which heads

Now I think you are getting somewhere:nice:

That cam matches better with the potential powerband you will have and the E7 style casting..

I really like the trickflow stage 1 for a budget camshaft, but I think with that cam, you are getting in the ball-park.

You may not NEED a tune, but a tune would be nice to iron out some idle and low rpm kinks that you may encounter.

Something you may want to consider, since you are going with ported E7's, more than likely, contact Thumper who knows his E7's:D. He has a couple older style camshafts like the one you mentioned that he likes to recommend, but I would hate to speak on their idle quality with the ECU of the sn-95 cars. Although, I know it can be done:nice:

I know you realize there are better camshafts out there like from the custom cam gurus...but for a budget, your getting there:)

Yeah I really like the power band on this cam and the fact that it comes with new lifters for $210 at advance plus I may be able to swing a discount as my step-bro is a regional so would make it like $180 out the door tax and all. Where is the best place to get roller rockers I priced them at advance for crane 1.65:1 pedestal mounts $240 but Scorpions are cheaper on ebay new (if that is what you really get)

Hmm...common roller rocker ratios are 1.6 and 1.7 or 1.72's...

I got my Scorpions for $200 a few years ago...so I could see them still running for around that right now:nice:

With this cam what lenth pushrods would I need? was looking at the trickflow 6.550 .080 with comp cam roller rockers

You will need to measure, that isn't a 'common' set-up for one.

Measuring is the only way to know. I doubt you will need something that long though with the E7 heads.

Good Luck.

I can't tell you what roller rockers to run:shrug: What I would do is run what the cam card says for that cam, which I'm sure is 1.6 with those lift numbers. The higher you get in the roller rockers, you can have valve cover clearance issues, which will need baffle trimming/removing, or even different valve covers. If you want to try 1.7's, go for it. With all the different tolerances with that camshaft, and I am not that familiar with it, it may or may not work. If you can get them locally, perhaps they will let you mock them up and install them on a cylinder and see if it provides you decent clearance.

You probably need to be looking into a spring upgrade as well, especially if going with a 1.7+ roller rocker.

Hydraulic roller lifters can last a very long time. However, as you know, many have the 'better safe than sorry' thinking on here, which I can agree with. Many have reused them with no problems, and many have replaced them:nice:

Here is some stock replacements:

what roller rockers does the steeda 19 call for, was thinking about picking that up from SIRONE

Steeda #19 - 220*/226* - 280*/286* - .480"/.480" - 115* - 2,300-6,000 RPM

1.6 Roller Rockers
Intake Opening: 26* BTDC
Intake Closing: 74* ABDC
Exhaust Opening: 79* BBDC
Exhaust Closing: 27* ATDC

Recommended Valve Springs:
110lbs closed/312 lbs open

Just picked me up another set of stock heads with brand new springs and 1.6 comp roller rockers for $80. The guy didn't want to bother taking the rockers off so he gave me the heads for free. said they may have a bent valve but the srings are barely used less than 1000miles. So i am going to put rockers and springs on my worked heads and see how it goes.

Springs & Rockers for 80 Bux :nice:

Look them over real good before installing them ;)

I will check them out, the guy was cool had alot of stuff for sale, had a 306 I would like to have but he said he had $9000 in it a little out of my range.

Has anyone heard of speed pro cam? 60 bux for this cam

INT EXH
.050 dur 222 232
sae dur 299 309
Cam lift .319 .334
Valve lift .510 .534
lobe cntr 107 117

could I use on my budget build

That is a old school camshaft in design, and likely an old school camshaft.

I am not aware of it personally.

I would stick with that Steeda or new TFS 1 for $160...

Yeah I think I a going to just get the E cam, found one that is supposed to be brand new for $103 shipped to my door, I checked thumper's page and it was one he recommends for his E7 ported heads, also found me a set of mac or bbk shorties for $100. So my budget build is coming together.

$225 Heads
$ 80 1.6 RR
$150 aluminum DS
$100 Shorties
$ 95 E303 Cam
$300 gaskets, water pump, timing set, ARP head studs
$900 total not to bad for my budget build!

$100 in explorer intake, $185 in bbk tb and tf elbow, $50 in 3pc underdrives, $0 in h pipe (sold my factory for scrap, paid for aftermarket), $100 3.73 gear and $85 in mufflers.

Grand total of $1420 to get me hopefully in the 250 RWHP range and high 13's. atleast this is my goal. I know I will probably need a tune but if I get there I will be happy for a little bit.
