Which s/charger set up??

Have been doing some reasearch for a 91 fox with some work into her and looking at charger set ups. I am looking for the personal opinion of you guys and your expierences.

Everyone has their preferances. Mine are not particular. Just off the bat, the silent drive systems don't impress me, I want EVERYONE to know what is making all the noise under the hood. But I also have to consider reliabilty, drivability, quality for a 6-9lb blower set up.

You can get an entry level SC trim to do 6 lbs, or an S trim (both vortech) to do 8-9 lbs. these are the main two from vortech. other people prefer the paxton Novi 1000/1200's. those are the two companies (and their most popular systems) that i've heard good new about.

Been running a Vortech SC-Trim for a little under a year now and over 13,000 miles with absolutely NO problems what so ever. I can't say enough about vortechs quailty and performance. Even when the motor was bone stock I was putting some lt1's out.

Vortech Strim. Have one on my dad's Dakota. Nothing but good things to say about it. Great quality and good power. It'll handle over 650hp. Arguably the best street blower available.

Becarefull what you wish for. Ive got a friend who has a vortech and its loud as hell. Dont get me wrong, its reliable and makes 12lbs of boost with room to grow. On most of my friends cars i can hear the exhaust first, but unless he's on the gas all you hear is that constant whine.

My SC-trim is basically an A-trim housing with a S-trim impeller and striaght cut gears. This makes for a moderate sound, I like it.. some find it annoying but whatever, they can go hope in their honda and enjoy their army of 50 hamsters powering their front wheels.

SQ-trim vortechs have whats called Heli-cut gears which let them operate at a slightly quieter sound, however, they are still noticable.

Older vortechs depending on what trim can be very very loud.

just some fyi stuff.

Its just personal preference, and he wants something loud man.

Another vote for the Vortech. I have the SQ-trim on my car. It is quieter then a regular S-trim, but it is not silent by any means. Mine makes 10psi with the stock pulleys and UPR power pipe.

Vortech. I spent months researching and agonizing over the decision, and went with the Vortech SC trim. It is inexpensive, and can easily be upgraded, also (somewhat) inexpensively. There is nothing wrong with the Procharger units or Kenne Bell, but they cost nearly $4K!! I did mine myself and added an aluminum discharge tube and an Anderson Power Pipe and spent around $2200. Combined with my other mods (minimal= tb, exhaust etc.) I made 275 rwhp, and 327 ft lbs! I would highly recommend the Vortech unit. go with the S trim, if you can swing it. More complicated install, but saves on upgrades down the line. Do it!

Depends on your budget. Vortech and Paxton are both run by the same company now so you can't go wrong with either one. A good base is the Vortech SC and you can upgrade it as $$ allows. You will be able to easily get 9psi out of this unit with a slight pulley change. If you have the funds for the S then that is an even better setup if starting from scratch but of course = more $$. The NOVI 2000 is a terrific setup and I have heard the brackets are better than those provided with the Vortech.

Im pretty sure its the S-trim as he has had his blower for a few years now, and i dont think the SQ's were available that early.

i Had a Novi 1K it made 6lb with the stock pulley loved it the novi base kit i think is a little better then the sc bace kit but this was a year ago so i dont know if vortech has a alum. tube the the paxton does

The 2K is not the cheapest, but you will not outgrow the blower down the road if you decide to make some more power

..........LOL.........true that man, dude i was laughing so badly once i read about those hamsters; never heard that before, i seriously almost fell off my chair !

YEA but back to the thread, well first you have to think about just how much you'll have to spend, b/c if you buy a more expensive s/c kit then you might have to worry about upgrading other things; t/b, intake manifold, fuel? i'm not sure b/c i don't know exactly what kit your looking for, centri or pd blower? the pd blowers do tend to cost more, like the KB that replaces ur intake manifold, and as for vortechs, paxtons, powerdynes, paxi's, and prochargers--their great s/c's and very reliable, basically all of them!!
