Read through a ton of old posts with debate on tranny gear versus handheld tuner versus speed-cal after gear install.

My 3.73's are going in tomorrow, and I want to have a way to correct the speedo immediately (or pretty close.)

I think considering I'm planning to do the KB down the road, I don't want to bother getting a dyno tune yet (and don't have mods to support anything other than a baseline run right now.) And since I'll be getting it dyno tuned after the KB goes on, there's no sense in getting a handheld tuner.

I've also read about people still not seeing correct speedo readings with the tranny gear swap (which I can understand, since according to the sites I see, both the 3.55 and 3.73 use the same gear?? That's got inaccuracy written all over it.)

Anyway, I'm trying to decide between the Brother and the Dallas Mustang speedcal. Brother is 10 bucks cheaper. I didn't find much about the Brother version by searching.. most people seem to use the DM one. Any opinions?

and dallas mustang has poor service at best....I got one from them and it burned out after 2 years...they gave me a "discount" on the second one I bought after shipping the original back to them...they didn't even set the pin sequence on it before shipping...glad I wrote my sequence down....was missing a couple parts from it...sent several emails...one response stating they would get it right out...never received...no more response to emails....get the brother...

just get the tuner and have your new dyno tune loaded onto it when you get the kenne bell.

I agree. If a blower is in your future, you may as well buy something now, that will work with you towards that goal later. The tuner will cover your speedometer calibration needs now and aid in the tuning of your Kenne Bell when you're ready.

Well, I was thinking of doing that, but doesn't Kenne Bell ship you a chip anyways? I mean, it seems a little bit of a ripoff to buy tuner when I can just use the KB chip and have it dyno'd. Right? I don't know crap about tuners, and by the time I finally figured it out, I'd already have the KB on probably.

If a wideband o2 sensor were able to fix gear ratio's, I'd buy THAT now though

(In any case, I ordered the Brother one last night.)
