yokohama AVS ES 100s or nitto 555s (not drag radials) i dont have money for DRs yet.

i just bought the yokohamas avs es 100s in 275/35/18. I cant say enough about them in wet and dry....although while the whether is still cold here in michigan they dont grip as well while the cement is cold. But on sunny says thus far they are great on dry cement. I cant wait till the summer......

I loose traction a little bit in when i take off but they hook right up and they stick from there on out.....GET EM!!!

cant go wrong with either...i had heard that the yoko's last a lil longer but we will see.

I second the yokohamas i have them on the rear and soon to be on front also and i can't say enough about them. The hook up great wet and dry.

how many miles do you guy get out of these tires? i need new tires i just got 25k out of my firehawks and i love them but i am thinking about switching

well i just got mine put on 300 miles ago so i cant tell you much on that note....

But when i was researching i found that both nittos and Yoko's grip well in wet and dry. But the Yoko's last a little longer; thats what sold me on them

uhh, i dont know where you got the idea that dr's are more expensive.

get the dr's if you want to race...

well tire for tire they might be cheaper....but what if this guy doesnt want to buy tires often? You will probably buy 2 sets of drag radials for one set of street tires....but i could be wrong.

Ive got the nitto 555's all the way around. I have over 10,000 on them and the tires look brand new. Of course I dont burn em every chance I get but they last long when you dive on the highway alot. And they get exxelent traction in the rain as well. Sometimes I can drop it in first and just spin a little before rolling into the throttle and getting perfect traction.

Id say go with the nittos. IMO.

those look pretty nice. what is the biggest size that will fit on the 17 gt wheels? 275?

Dunno, those might be really pushing it. They may not guarantee them if they are not the stock tire size. I'm just using the 245/45 17's all around. You need to document when they are rotated al well so if you have different sizes all around, you won't be able to rotate them, thus voiding the guarantee. I have the local tire shop rotate them for free every 3k and record the pressure just so I have proof that it's been done.

I have the ZE-512's and tghey ran something like $125 each installed.

Performance wise, they seem to handle just as well as my old Dunlop Sport 5000's which were almost $200 each installed and I feel fairly safe in the rain. They screech really loud if I break traction on smooth asphalt though. I mean REALLY loud.

Nitto DR's will last alot longer then u may think, especially if you dont race that often. I cant imagine spending money on normal street tires if you EVER race. If you never do then its a diff story.

i race sometimes but like i said before i dont have money to spend on tires that wont last as long, i know they last long for drag radials but not as long as i need them to.

My vote is for BFG's. I've got the KDW's and they have been many times better than what I've owned before: stock 17" goodyear Z45's and sumitomo's. I have about 20,000 miles on the current BFG's and I expect to get another 10K out of them.

Pro's for the KDW
1. Excellent treadwear
2. Excellent rain traction (not a single scary moment yet, unlike the dozens befoe)
3. Dry traction is great, but I've heard that others may hook a little better from dead stop.
4. Handling overall was improved just by using this tire. I feel a lot more confident with the increased grip.
5. Few tires look this good.
6. Road noise is as expected, but the new X-pipe took care of that.

I give these high marks, because I only do street driving. If I were to race, track, or strip, then something else would probably be a lot better. But for everyday driving and the quick romp on curvy roads, these are great.

I run 255/45's right now, but the next set will probably be 245/45 so that the odometer will be dead on. Plus, I don't think there's much or any benefit with this non-stock size tire. I'm borrowing an 03 Mach 1 with 245/45's and it handles like a dream with the stock rubber (suspension is better than mine, but that's going to change soon).

I have really owned only two sets of tires, the goodyears that came on my car, and Kelly Chargers. The Kelly's made the goodyears look like $hit big time and even for my 225's hook really good. I'll be getting a set of 15X8 steelies for the track and plan on putting on some kelly's. they are really really soft and sticky, but i don't remember if they make drag radials or not. Plus, they're cheap, well, fairly cheap, you get what you pay for to a certain extent.
