which tranny to go with? tremmec, rebuild, g-force?

Lately i have noticed that my tranny is getting a little sloppy... Not surprising considering that it has 130k miles on it and im pushing approx a 600 horse motor at it...

I want to know what people have had good luck with... I want to stick with a manual tranny too.. Here's the ideas I have... Standard rebuild (cheap), G-force rebuild (heard bad and good things about), or some sort of tremmec. If a T-56 was cheaper it would be an option but i don't look to spend any more then 1500 at the absolute Most.

Im gonna start hitting the track again here shortly. I figured just in case i would look at my options now.. I figured i would do something with the tranny this fall anyways..

I'm wondering the same thing, I have 168,000 on my T5 so its only a matter of time. I was leaning towards the G-Force rebuild since you can use most of the stock drivetrain parts. Most people on here are paying ~$2000 for a TKO swap.

I have $2K in my TKO swap. I'd go that route if it was my car.

how come the tremmec swap is so much... i see them advertised for like 1300-1500 bucks shipped? what else do you ahve to get with them?

I believe you have to get a different bellhousing and shifter.

Parts required for TKO:
tranny
bell
clutch disc
ds yoke (normally comes with tranny)
93-older shiftfork
dust shield for clutch cable on bell (not required)
2 shorter bell housing bolts for top two holes in bell
U joints for TKO yoke on DS
5/8" DS spacer
GM synchromesh tranny fluid (3qts I think)
Possibly lakewood offset dowel pins for bell housing indexing

That's about it...

Stay away from Gforce especially for a T5 kit I was going to get one and my order was on eternal hold, when I called to cancel my order it was like they didn't even care I would recommend a Tremec of whatever spec you want and buy from D&D their guys know there s**t

I remember hearing bad things about the g-force kit? Besides the wait, what were the problems with it?

Im thinking i can get the basic kit and have it installed for under 1500. 950$ was what i saw on one website anyway...

Whatever you do do not get a rebuild unless your budget says so. You will just be replacing it again. That's why I had to fork out $$ for the Tremec instead of getting my rollcage I saved up for. I was worth it though for the peace of mind and confidence.

Money was an issue with me. Buying either one of those transmissions new was just flat out too much $ for me. I ended up getting a sweet deal on a very low mileage TKO with pro 5.0 shifter for $1100 shipped. I saved a good $600 this way. Should hopefully be here next week. He ran gm syncromesh in it too.

Killer, is that part list sn95 specific? What abot for a fox? I planned on buying a 31 spline driveshaft instead of sending $70 on a 31 spline yoke for my tko. I never heard of needing a driveshaft spacer?? I plan on buying a blow proof bell and indexing it. i plan on using it with a new motor, so it'll be outta the car, so indexing should be easy.

I also had to slightly modify my trans cross member for a 3550 and ES trans mounts. Not a big deal just thought I'd mention it.
