Anyone know of a place to buy the shelby style hood, roof, and trunk stripes for a 65 coupe. I have not been able to find lemans stripes for my car anywhere. I f i wanted some for an 05 mustang, i would have been done along time ago, but havent seen any on ebay for our cars.

I don't think anyone makes vinyl LeMans stripes for early Stangs. They have the potential to look like crap anyways. You should have them painted on.

All you need are the dimensions (I think you can get them from Branda) and go to a sign shop and they can make them. I've seen it done on a '65-'66 Fastback. The guy wanted to see if he'd like the stripes before he went about painting them on.

It'll be a little tricky around your hood scoop though.

Yeah, i was thinking the hood scoop would cause problems with vinyl. It would have to be cut just for my hood scoop otherwise it would look like garbage. In on the fence big time, every other car ive seen with them looks good, but i just dont know if i want them on mine. I started taping them off according to a diagram i got off of here, but it seems like a huge job and truthfully i dont know if i trust a paint shop to do it right. i was thinking of painting them myself, any thoughts on this. and i was gonna go with 8" stripes instead of 10" because they are a little wide for my liking. Im really not sure what i want to do, but i know i love the look on every other classic ive seen with them.

Pick up the shelf lining paper. Then you could get it with flowers or ducks, or country homes with picket fences! If you get there at the right time you might beat the grandma's to the sale bin of the flowery lace looking stuff!

But seriously, if you get the plain white low stick stuff, you can make all the stripes you want. Make a little roller setup with an exacto knife for a cutter on an adjustable arm. Try different widths, different spacing between stripes, etc. Wax the car real well, then lay the stuff on and peel it off to your hearts content. All on the cheap.
Then when you figure out exactly what you want. Paint it on and bury it in clear.
