Chris, which quadrant are you running? I'm not real big on multi hook units (never owned one - I've only worked on cars with them and test driven 'em). If you have a triple hook, I suppose folks should compare notes about their experiences (I've had outstanding luck with the single-hook units). Sometimes the geometry with multi-hook units is less than desireable. I'd guess you used a single hook, but it's worth asking.
I'm not sure that grease is going to help the quad (I'm sure it moved nice and easy when you installed it). I had to do light machining on my new quad on the fox but it was an issue with my car. Now it feels very nice. And if you keep the slack out of the cable, it should be self-centering (I used no shims initially and simple physics kept the quad from moving laterally).
As you know, keep the grease away from the clutch cable itself.

P.S. one more thought: You might want to compare notes with Danny (Wytstang). When he got his KC, he was a little unsure about the PP. He did a fair amount of research regarding the seemingly different KC PP's and might have gleamed some sort of insight.
