Big turbo and intercooler plus some of those $1400 headers and down pipe and you are in the mid 12s until the front prop shaft brakes like mine did. WOW cost over $1500 for that one. Lots of tranny probs too. With the right tune and slicks all around (because they will do a four tire bunout on street tires) and your in the 11s. Guys with stroker motors and all the go fast stuff from MCcoy Motorstorts do 9s.
Sold it and bought a 454SS truck....CRAP SLOW....Sold it for a twin turbo 1990 300Z....sold it to hard to work on.......87 Mustang Gt did everything possible exept NOS....Stolen had over 30K in recepts...Oh well I'm trying it again.
I raced a Cyclone at the track one...got the jump on him and dropped second too hard and spun like crazy and then he spooled up and it was over before it even began.

I've cut 2.0s and one 1.90 on average tread street tires....i have no idea how he didn't rip my ass out of the hole with AWD, in fact now that i think about it he might even have been sitting at the light spooling up before he launched...i've seen a lot of turbo cars do that. It's all the same on test and tune anyways, your ET doesn't start untill you brake the light so maybe that's why he pulled away so fast once i dropped second.
It's kinda hard to say really, i was VERY new to drag racing back then.
He probably did what every turbo car seems to do. Sit at the line, not care about RT and build boost. Turbo cars suck like that, you jump them out of the hole, and have them to half track, then they whip by you and run 2 seconds faster!
Yeah, i've raced i'd say at least 5 Grand National/GNX Regals and it's the same thing every time....i get half track and all i hear is this evil hissing scream blowing by me at about 140mph. That's when i just shut down and cruise the rest of the way unless i'm having a good run..lol. We always seem to have a lot of Grand Nationals at the track. I think there's a club or something because when you see one, there's usually at least 4 at one time and they're never stock. I've only seen the Cyclone once though and i don't think i've ever seen a Typhoon in person.
