Why does my e-brake light come on when I brake normally sometimes?

Usually it means the brakes are dropping pressure. I usually find a brake caliper leaking or a bad rubber line.

check your fluid lever in the resovoir, the light has 2 purposes, ebrake, and low fluid level.

Ah, when I had my tires changed 3 months ago the place told me my brakes were at 10%. Would that mean I need my brakes changed etc?

i would change the brakes. and since the pads are low your piston has to extent further thus reducing the fluid level in the reservoir causing the light. It could also be a pressure differential switch witch would mean to different pressures between the front of the master cyl and the back most likely indicating a leak.

Fluid or e brake on.... Check ur fluid. overfill if its still full, could be doing as above and using more to push worn pads down.

If your brakes were at 10% 3 months ago then you need to change those pads NOW before you end up having to buy new rotors also.

Also, if your brakes are worn that far down then you probably need some fluid in the reservoir.

check your pads. I had one of my rear calipers hang up on me and wear right through one of my pads on that caliper. when the piston on the caliper comes out too far, it uses more fluid than normal and will cause the light to come on under moderate to severe braking.

Our brake light only monitors Low Brake Fluid and the E-brake. It doesn't monitor pressure.

You prob need a brake job. Do it now before you start digging into the rotors and it costs more. Right now you can get away with pads and a rotor cut.

Low fluid most likely. Over time your diminishing pads need more fluid to press them. If your pads are gone, usually they have a rivet or something that makes them "squeel" to let you know.
