My car is chewing up struts it seems every few thousand miles.
I currently have a gr40 coilover over 200 dollar koni yellow struts in the front, and the left side is clunking again... just like when i put the mach 1 struts in the front. Im installing them correctly, what the hell could be the problem? no big potholes or anything... and the passenger side front is fine. nothings loose, it sounds like another blown strut. Theyre warranteed for life i believe but its kind of rediculous...

i dont know much about coilovers but you need the correct spring rate for the strut. coilovers need specific shocks/struts.

http://www.griggsracing.com/installation/coil.html some help.

You are running 350 lbs. springs in front right, because that sounds like a fine match. I guess you could try the tokico illumina 5-ways.. Also, maybe there is an advantage of using a 1993 GT length strut instead Are you sure its just not the C/C plates not being tight enough? how many miles with the koni's?

yep 350 lb springs with koni yellows.. and they have about 1000 or so miles on them- they are on setting 4/4 but i tried softening them up and the noise just got worse on the left.
im not sure what the deal is because i thought these struts went with that spring rate.

I had a friend whose car was eating a shock every 2k miles. Turned out the rim was bent and the vibrations from the wheel was working the shock to death, and causing premature failure. Maybe worth looking into for your rim.

How can you tell that a strut or shock is worn out?

You can usually see oil (wet) marks on the strut, usuall meaning you blew a gasket (seal, whatever) and the oil is leaking out which then gives you no compression, and then start to clunk like previously stated
