Why not buy 87-95 Alum. DS and swap yoke?

I'm sure this has been covered in several threads, but I did a search and couldn't find anything that answered the question. Why pay $100.00 more for the Motorsport Aluminum driveshaft for 96+ cars when you can buy the 87-95 and just swap the yolks? I always wondered if the two shafts were the same length and only different yolks, and I finally got the question answered so I bought a brand new one for $180.00 and am putting it in this weekend... why don't more people do this?(or do they and I just missed all the threads about it?)
 
I plan to do the swap this saturday morning... I'll update this post with pics... I got the shaft at a retail store of all places(USA Racing in Arlington, TX) for $169.XX + tax. I even told the guy that I couldn't find a new one for less than $250.00 on Ebay, and he brought the box out, unopened. I was like, "$169.00?? I want this RIGHT NOW!"

Well, I went ahead and did the install Thursday night... I couldn't help it.

Just as I thought the 87-95 Motorsport aluminum driveshafts are no different than the 96+ Motorsport aluminum driveshafts. Same length and diameter. I pulled the T-5 yolk off the aluminum one and replaced it with my stock one. Surely I'm not the first to discover this in the last 10 years, but for those like me who didn't know already, you can save yourself $100.00 going this route.

The only difference between the two FRPP aluminum driveshafts are the transmission yokes. When I had my v6 w/ the 4R70W, I wasn't able to buy a alum. ds. that would just "bolt in" (I'm not sure if the GT autos have the same problem); neither of the transmission yokes would fit the 4R70W. So I bought the cheapest of the two driveshafts and swapped the auto yoke onto the ds. It worked perfect after that.

Justin03GT, the shafts are the same length... I thought the same thing about the picture after taking it, but I put the two shafts side by side, standing vertically on the rear-end flange and they are exactly the same! Wait just a second and I'll try to get some quick pics of the shaft in the car...

I drove it immediately afterwards to make sure everything was ok, but I gave it the 100+ mph test on the way to work this morning. I forgot how much of a difference an aluminum shaft makes in the feel of the driveline.
