Why would a chip be better than Predator?

I have seen some posts on here stating this because you can get a better tune, but how? I have been told that with the new Predator you can completely customize your tune, or use some base programs and work from there. I have ordered one under the impression that there were no disadvantages to this over the chip.

I had the flip chip and it cuts out so I went to Race Systems, and they aren’t available now to upgrade so after wasting a grand I was told to get the Predator. Can someone give me some clarification on this?
