Wider stock wheels.

I have the polished aluminum 5 spoke wheels on my 04 GT, the ones that look like cobra rims (not sure of the real name of them). I really like these rims with the exception that they are just not wide enough in the rear. I like the look of keeping the rear wheel flush with the fender, or just inside the fender, but I don't want to use wheel spacers. Is there any way I could send out my wheels to have them widened without destroying them?

Not sure if the make those exact wheels the way you'd want them, but you'd probabally pay a pretty penny to have yours widened.

Try http://www.mustangtuning.com/mustangwheels.html

well, you could always get a set of 03/04 Cobra 5 spoke wheels (polished or chrome) and they would look similar to your stock wheels, but be wider, which is what you want. I would be very wary of widening stock wheels, you have to lose some strength by doing that. There was a listing for a set of 17x9 97 cobra wheels that had been widened but I would never put them on my car... my luck they would break in half on the highway hahha

I wish I could buy the same rim only wider, like most mustang places (like mustanttuning.com) but NO ONE has the wheels that I have. They have the cobras, cobra r's, bullits, FR500, etc. but not the same ones I have, which totally blows chunks. If I go with the cobra's it'll be like i'm tryin to play off my car like its a cobra, which I don't wanna do. Makes it seem like I'm out to make my car something its not.

Not true. There are a lot of companies that widen wheels and have been doing it for a long time.

Lidio Alternative Auto had his factory 04 Mach1 wheels widened to 10.5 http://www.alternativeauto.com/misc/mach1_project.html and also has had a pair of 18 Mach wheels widened to 11.5. http://www.alternativeauto.com/misc/mach1_project_dec-05.html

Did I mention the Fact that these are on a 630+RWHP car that runs low 10's. :nice:

alrighty then... then if done correctly they will be fine.

You can have your wheels widened but it's not cheap. I was looking into for the semi sleeper look on my car with the "pony's" on it the basic 5 spoke wheels that came on my car. But the cost was too high IMO 240 per wheel was the average cost I was given.
