I wanted to share my experience with everyone about the maximum width of tires that fit on a foxbody.
I wanted to make a point to post this because I know that question gets beaten to death.
maybe my experience will help guide the next person.
MY car:
93 GT, its lowered about 1 1/2 inches. I have 17by9 inch rims all the way around.
Out back I have 275/40/17s. All that I needed to do was hammer on the inner sheet metal lip a bit on both sides to avoid rubbing when going over bigger bumps. I did not need to remove my quad shock, although it IS a close fit.
up front I have 255s, these are wide for the front and I still have a bit of rubbing when turning hard, like in parking lots, but its not that bad. I do not have the stock plastic flaps by the wheel well. My break line would have rubbed but since its rubber, I just zip tied it back behind the strut.
Hope this helps someone,
Eric
BTW, my tires are nexen 3000 and these are my second set. I have found them excellent tires for cornering, strip and street.... in all conditions. I paid 78 dollars a tire from online tires . com.
