will 03/04 cobra motor fit??

will the 03/04 cobra svt motor fit in my 68 mustang bay...anyone? im doing an eleanor project, and want a blower motor in it, just dont know if its worth all the hassle for the svt motor or be better off with a stroker 331 and a kenne bell or whipple on it...any suggestions.....cost may factor as well,,,,,between two setups mentioned how much difference might there be? thanks, Jon

First off.

Anything is possible hehe ESPECIALLY if you have the money/tools/resources

But yes it will fit It's my understanding that the shock towers need to be gone and a mustang II or other like suspension must be used.

Is it worth it? HELL YES IT IS!!!! lol a 390 horsepower motor stock with 500 + HP being a few bolt ons and a pulley away ....yah its a great choice I would hope you would put the six speed in there as well? (not saying a stalled C4 wouldent be a bad idea either )

I plan on doing this swap sometime in the future, those blowers just sound sexy

its a LOT of work... you will need to chop out the shock towers and go with a Mustang II front suspension

it does sound like a lot of work.. not sure on chopping out the shock towers since engine bay is all done and painted and such, but maybe i have no choice in the matter, that being said, is the mustang II front end the best option i have for the car, or can the existing be made to work with some aftermarket goodies?

Take a look at the sticky above about the Reenmachine DOHC '67 Shelby clone. It's got a 4.6 non supercharged engine. 27 pages full of info up there, and seeing how it turned out is the best part.

If you are putting one of those lovely blowers on it, you won't even need to stroke it. It will have more low end torque than you can handle. Or stroke it, and don't worry about a blower.

Search some on the forum, you do not need to cut out the shock towers, you can notch the towers and still run a stock suspension with a DOHC.

I don't think the modifications neccessary to make a 4.6L fit are going to be up your alley.

The stock suspension can be made to handle far better than the MII. IMHO the 4.6 is a pig that has its place but it has never made any since to chop up a classic to put one in when you can make more power and have a smaller lighter engine installed for less work. YMMV it is your car make your self happy.

kenne bell makes blowers for 5.0's so that should bolt right on.

Well....It bolts onto the 5.0 fuel injected intake and really doesent have a provision for a carb, better opt would be for a weilind

A comparison photo has been posted many times but I can send it to you if you would like it show a side by side comparison of the 4.6 and a 302 the difference is striking. The 4.6 is a very wide motor larger in fact than a FE big block.

A 302 based motor with a power adder.
A 351W based motor with or with out a power adder.
A EF no power adder required.

Oh and all of these fit between the shock tower of a 67 and up car with no modifications though the EF is very tight.

If you are trying to be different they are great. If you only want 500 hp or less, they are even better. If you want more, they like boost alot more than pushrod motors. And 1000 hp capable short blocks can be had cheaper than the pushrods also. I will have a carbed 4.6 with a blo thru one of these days, just to add to the list of stuff "you can't do."

DOHC 4.6 is larger than an FE. You will definately have to massage the shock towers.
