Will 275's Really Fit?

Also, I know a lot of 96-98 Cobra guys are upgrading the front a arms to ones off a 03/04 Cobra. They are suppose to greatly improve handling, 10% tighter turn radius, and reduce wandering in the roads. I'll be adding them next time I get some extra cash.

I know you have one of the nicest, best maintained Mustangs around...but that isn't a perfect fit ;)

the sidewalls shouldn't angle 'in' to the tread like that, and tread width and the wheel width should be closer to the same so the section width (the widest part) would be about 1" or so wider than the wheel...that doesn't mean the 255/40 doesn't work on a 9" wheel, they just aren't a perfect fit

(and a 255/40 will be about 3/4" shorter than stock, so the speedo will be off or you may have ABS problems if the rears are stock height....sorry spend way too many years selling tires :D )

That's why I said,
It fits perfect IMO

I know supposedly a 275 is supposed to be the optimum size, but to my eye, it looks funny in the front... I would never run a 255/40/17 on a 9" wheel on the rear of my car, but in the front I think it looks better....:D

My buddy & I both have the same FR500 wheels on our new edges, with the same BFG tires, but in front I have a 265/35/18, & he has a 275/35/18, & they are both on a 18X9" wheel... His looks odd to me...

Here is an example of the 1 thing I hated about my 95 GT... The front 9" wheel with a +24 offset looked like it poked out of the fender with a 275/40/17... Keep in mind that this is a 95 too, which has a front track width that is roughly 8mm narrower per side compared to a 96-98, so its even worse on a 96-98.... & with the narrow rear that the 94-98's had, even a 17X10.5 with a 315/35/17 looked sucked in compared to the front...

This pic was with a MM 1/4" spacer in the rear so it looks a bit better...

just give it more camber in the front:D

I have 275's on 18x9 wheels, and they fit pretty flush with the fender. With my 18x10's (295) out back, they look fine together. The 275's however do rub on my swaybar in the front if I turn the wheel all the way in both directions.

That was about -0.8 degrees camber. Anymore will cause wear on the inner edge of the tire on a Daily. My mach has more aggressive camber settings though.... Yours might have to do with the offset of your front wheels...

Usually people dont notice, but thats how 90% of SN95's look in front if they are running 9" wheels. But honestly, if they are lowered without CC plates, which is also very common, alot of em' most likely have mucho negative camber....

exactly. Mine has about -1 degree camber, but I have another car, so I dont drive it unless its nice out. it used to be my DD up until about 3 months ago. It kills me seeing it sit in the garage. Just cant wait for it to get nice here in New England again.

Must be nice to live in Cali:nonono:

Cali is great, but actually that used to be my DD but I traded the Yellow 95 for a white 91 notchback about 8 months ago. But my DD is actually an 86 VW Jetta GLI...
