will fox radiator fit sn95s?

hello, I just chased down a coolant leak, at first I thought it was the upper hose but its coming from the left upper mounting bracket, I know GDI, and Modine make a decent 3 row for the foxes for a lot less then the SN95s and was wondering if anyone has put one on our cars, and what modifications were nessesary, already tried the search,thanks

I have been lookin into this as well. It seemed to me that the inlet and outlet hose sizes are different on foxes vs SN's (have you noticed this as well?). I was going off of specs i found online (not actually measuring myself).

The GDI 3 core unit looked like it would be a real tight fit height-wise. I also considered using a stock fox 2 core radiator (smaller dimensionally than the 3 core, but still an improvement over our single core radiator), but with the possible hose size issue, did not pursue it further.

I am still tryin to figure out which way to go with this.

DO NOT buy GDI crap and even Modine is questionable (expensive too). Remember 3 row is not necessarily better than 2 or even 1, find the width of the core and or to be more exact, fins/sq in will get you the most surface area in the core. Also, certain manufacturers (like Visteon the OE) use a dimple design in the tubes of the rad core which makes the coolant turbulent and cools much better.

As far as modifications between applications to save you $, I can't tell from where I sit now, but I'm sure with some fab work you could fit it in...

I've worked in rads/ac's for a while now, for the manufacturers available as companies Transpro has the highest rate of defect and failure. Now Modine which was good for a long time moved operations ect overseas and has now actually merged w/ Transpro. I actually never have looked @ failure for our specific applicaton so I guess I'm making a generalization...

Well, Mike(grn92lx) runs the GDI 3 core rad in his 92 5.0 and it works flawlessly. He got it for $190 i think from Pepboys with a lifetime warranty as long as u keep the reciept. Im not sure if they have stepped up their computers to "remember" that u bought it.

He told me that there are very few times it gets above the 180* mark where he has to turn on his fans. He also runs a 180* thermostat.

This is the rad i plan on making work in my car next, im not sure what u consider a good rad, but hey, this rad has shown to work good enough for me! And the price is right with the lifetime warranty

Nate, as you know, there are more than a few folks who run the GDI and Modine 3 cores in their foxes (more run the GDI due to its cost) and have no complaints (and like you said, since it is LLT, who cares). I have run a couple GDI's in other cars myself. They seem to do a nice job, IMHO.

I am just not sure it will fit and plumb up correctly on an SN.

Are ya planning on tossing one into your '95 shortly? PLEASE report back on how it goes.

If the height and width are the same,I could deal with fabricating the upper brackets,even the hoses,of bigger concern is the CCRM getting moved closer to the tensioner so far Im leaning towards the GDI #433138,its a 3 row, 2" thick,I'll make it fit, I guess it wont be fun if it was easy,uh right?

Afco rad's are supposed to be pretty good and the price is right $179. They have brazed fins, 16 fines per inch core and they include mount type flanges for easy instalation(sp?).

I'd say with the orignal setup in mind any all aluminum is best, Northern/Fluydine/USRad (for a little more $ though). Again even the GDI will probably NOT fail, just has greater potential to. Look at one vs. a stock Visteon, Visteon's welds/ tank seams ect are of a noticably better quality. Also keeping mind the life of a rad is generally 8-10 years and it could just mean you come up on the shorter end of that time period. People just need to read the fine print on installation ect to cash in those life./warr. We actually supply Pepboys/CSK(checker/schucks/kragen)/autozone w/ about half their "Readyrads".

I'd be in good shape if I knew this much about the rest of cars

My Fluidyne is hard to beat, though it was $330 (94/95 Style) from www.absoluteradiator.com

Not only did it fit perfect, but it's quality in the welds ect. looks better than the welds in my Canton oil pan! It also let my engine run noticibly cooler than with the stock radiator. Also cannot beat how sweet looking the Fluidyne looks in the car....BLING BLING!
