I'm sorry if i offended you bro. It was not intended. First of all i know ALL about dodges...i was really starting to become a mopar guy until i had tons of problems with my rams. The first one wasn't too too bad but the second one was horrible.

I read through the link you sent. This guy purchased some very expensive items. He replaced his intake manifold, swap camshafts, $350 PCM upgrade, 4.10's with Posi, full exhaust, and is obviously a very practiced drager.

And still is about 3-4 cars off of a bone stock GT in the 1/4 mile. I think its funny he taunts mustangs...i can remember on moparchat.com a few years back they used to make fun of mustangs like they are slow. The ironic thing is the only stock ram that can take a mustang is a 45k truck with a viper engine in it. Even more so you have to spend about twice the dollars to gain the same amount of improvement in 1/4 mile with those engines.

Eventually you'll see where im coming from. You'll see enough problems from your ram buddies and realize just how low build quality they really have. I wish i could say differently but its just fact.

kirkyg, thanks for the apology and I understand exactly where you comin from. Right when i got my truck i talked to my cousin (hes into the fast diesels and has a 98 powerstroke 4x4 with 35's than can turns high 14's and hes only 18) and he brought up the same thing about reliability issues on the rams. He said i will notice things going wrong with my truck after i put a few more miles on it but so far only a bad cat thats fallen apart and rattles constantly.

Well there is always a chance you got a good one. Just because they are notorious for problems doesn't mean every single ram is going to cause alot of problems. Lets just hope you got a good one out of the lot. My advice to you is if you plan on getting a mustang in the future start saving and investing your extra money now instead of putting all your money into a truck you probably wont keep. I had a 2300 down payment and a tradein of 4500 worth on my mustang AND i was patient enough to pay below 20k for my loaded GT.

race the dodge it doesnt stand a chance... hey 98sst i mean no disrespect for your truck but my family has owned many dodges and my dad even raced for mopar and they have major issues especially with the tranny... at around 110k all the rams started slippin tranny's. my dad was a huge mopar guy but nnow he wouldnt take one for free. he worked on mopars alot and owned too many to list... i like the look of them and i used to think the rams were the best but then my rents cars had all the problems in the world. in all respect to mopar they have made some good engines and are capable of power. JMO though.

as far as the lightening and the SRT-10 are concerned i heard the NEW lightening was supposed to be quicker in the 1/4 mile than the srt-10... not FOR SURE though. at any rate the srt-10 was a HUGE dissapointment it did not run NEAR what was originally thought. i think it hit high 13's or something but dont quote me on that. when it comes down to it ill take the lightening any day... besides my buddy had an 02 and it was SWEET!!!!

that is a 5.9L 360...I ran one of those late last summer. He is a good friend of mine.
I have a 98gt, at the time I had no mods...not even a K&N, and couldent drive! He had ET streets, cold air, chip, headers and exhaust...I beat him in the 1/4 mile at the clay city drag strip ;-)! Not by much at the time, but...now I have gotten better with the car, X pipe, headers, cold air, and a shifter...I rape him badly now! Its like 30 cars in the 1/4 LOL...

ur car would outrun mine...even if you cant drive very well...so you will have no issues with ur buddy in the r/t. Race him, he will look very very stupid.

Yeah, Car and Driver could only muster a 13.6 in the 1/4mi with the SRT-10 Ram. Some are only turning 13.8. I think they had projected high 12's.
