Will The Tire Rub?

On a stock 92 LX if the tire is a hair past the rear fender is it sure to rub? I never have rear passengers.

My current setup is 255/50/16 (on the back) on stock 16*7 wheels. They do hang past the inner fender lip(not rolled) but have never rubbed. I want to put 17*9 Snypers(17mm offset) with 275/40/17 on the rear, but they will be just about even with the outer fender lip. I don't see how rolling the fender would help in this case.

So my question is if the 255's don't rub will the 275's? I don't think they will, but the guy selling me the rims says they might.
Also does 17mm offset seem like enough?

That 17mm offset will hurt you. I had the 275/40 in a 17x9 with the 23mm and they rubbed when the rear suspension flexed (driveways, etc.) that 6 mm is 1/4" which doesnt sound like much, but I beleive its enough to make the difference.
