Will these stock parts be good enough?

For my non-HO 5.0 to better-than-HO h/c/i swap, I'm going to be running my mildly ported E7s along with an E303 and an Exploder intake. The 14 lb. injectors will be replaced w/ 19 lb.ers, and I'll be using a 3.5" power pipe I found on ebay. The car already has a Bassani X-pipe w/ flowmasters terminating by the axles; I can't afford decent headers for a while so I'm waiting on that.

My question is, how much (if at all) will running a 55mm MAF and a stock throttle body hold back my performance? There seems to be differing opinions on the matter (at least about the TB). I'm already over budget and almost out of money, so if anything I'll probably get an exploder TB and a 95 MAF, but only if I must; what do you guys think?

IMHO, a LOT of people make the mistake of thinking the stock TB and stock MAF won't hurt that much on a modified motor. You'll likely be robbing yourself of 10-15 HP at least considering the rest of your motor is going to be wanting more air than those parts are willing to give.

By just breaking the edge of the intake opening on the Explorer, you can match up a 70mm TB/EGR to it with almost zero effort. As cast, the opening on an Explorer intake is like 67-68mm. You won't regret going with a 70mm TB, because it'll flow enough air for even bigger cylinder heads down the road.

As for the MAF, you can go budget by finding a 94-95 5.0 70mm unit, or drop some coin on an aftermarket unit. Either way, the stock 55mm unit it barely adequate for an unmodified motor, and is one of the reasons a stock SD car is faster than a stock MAF car.

I saw someone advertising their stock EGR spacer on ebay as being 65mm, is the stock unit really that big? because I was considering using it w/ an explorer TB if it's big enough because that's about all that I can afford.
