Right outside the window, there is a piece of black trim that runs the length of the door (at the top of the door skin) and hides the seam where the window weatherstrip meet the body. That trim, as some of you may know, can be slid off toward the back of the car and is held down by a series of clips that go into the door skin. Does anybody know where to get those clips?? I've got a few that are broken and they're all dryrotted. I called 50resto, but they were like, "good luck." So I need some more ideas.

I don't know why they would say that. I ordered this Door Belt and Seal Kit from them, and it came with the round, plastic clips. I just needed to get the right size pop rivets to hold them on.

BTW: Were any of the clips missing on your car? On mine, there was one missing on each door, and it looks like they were never even installed at the factory.

rivets?? on mine the molding had nothing to do w/ rivets. The little plastic clips are rectangular, ecxept for 3 round ones (yes, one was missing from the factory) and just pop into square holes at the top of the door skin.

My door trim is not held on by any square clips, just the 4 round clips and the screw at the rear of the door.

Here is a pic of a page from my Mustang Service Manual. Look at detail "D".

Yeah, mine is completely different. it looks like D, except that they are only plastic retainers 2 circular and 4 rectangular on either side. They just snap down into those square holes and thats it. No rivets involved. Thats confusing. I'll snap a pic tomorrow.

I don't know where u can get the clips, but I have a suggestion. Find a solid piece of plastic or aluminum even maybe. Cut it to the right size and then drill hole thru the center and the use a rivit to hold it to the door. This may sound wac, but its hidden and as long as it does the job, whats the difference.

Let me know what you think, please.
