gonna pick up some 3.55 gears and play around, my mustang guru (modded out an 87 til it had 500rwhp) but he has never done a rear end swap, so we are gonna give it a go and pray. he works at a ford/lincoln/mercury dealership so he has all the tools and im sure one of his co-workers has done one, so we have a good chance of getting it right. . and an even better chance of blowing he thing strait to H**L :rlaugh:

for doing gears, Scott (Mo Dingo) has a nice write up in his sig for what he did (he did it right, with the right tools). just mentioning it in case you want another reference.

good luck.

PS, are you swapping gears, a new rear, or putting new gears in a rear which will be swapped in?

I swapped in 373s wednesday night to replace the 355s i had in there for 20k or so...FMS gears are tit...i swapped over the same pinion shim, used the same bearings (cars has 70k on it) and its dead silent...
This is the 3rd swap iv'e done with FMS gears..i didnt have a my indicator to check the backlash but the pattern looked sweet, so I closed it up..FMS are truly plug and play so to say...youll be just fine... :nice:
The 373s were used, with about 5k on em to boot...

Swapping gears wasn't that big deal
Just meka seure you change your old bearings, two differential, one pinion rear inner ,one pinino rear outer and two axle bearings, and two axle seals, you can find all this parts in local auto store

Biggest problem is set backlash , it HAVE TO BE 8000-14000 I set mine at 8000
