Woodburn Results April 2nd!

Went down to Woodburn dragstrip yesterday and had an awesome day of racing. I managed to get an 11.9 @ 116 on grag radials!
So after I got the 11.9 I decided to go for one more run and just go balls out hoping for some improvement. I did a nasty burnout and staged at the line. Lights went and I launched it at about 5 grand and squeezed right out of the hole. It hooked awesome and then something snapped about 15 feet out.
Needless to say it went home on the tow truck. I don't know what I broke yet, but hopefully I can have it together soon and have it ready to run on some slicks!

Jeff

I was there in time to see your car break. In fact, I heard the pop noise from the stands. Just wish I could have seen you run! I may install a 100 shot nitrous express on my car soon as well, so I was curious to see your car run. My 302 makes fairly comparable power to your 347, and is also backed by a TKO. Let me know if you broke the tranny! By the way, I think you used to have my old T-5 before you installed the TKO. Did you grenade it? Hope you get the stang fixed soon.

You missed out on some good runs. It wasn't hard getting used to running the nitrous, it is very addictive!
I don't think I broke anything major. The tranny still feels fine, shifting through the gears feels ok and the clutch pedal still has good pressure. I probably just stripped the teeth off of something.
The T-5 I had was ok, when I upgraded I sold it to hairy canary for his 95.

That's funny. I guess it is good to know my old tranny has lived on. I am hoping that I can get my car ready to run in the next couple of months. Currently, I am trying to finish college, so money is tight. I have to get my driveshaft re-balanced because it slammed into the underside of the car during a 1-2 shift, and stripped a portion of the balancing weight off. Let me know when you are going to run that beast on slicks....

Good times Jeff, and just an FYI the addictive properties of Nitrous are half the reason I switched to the turbos ;)

Just don't let it escalate and you'll be fine.

hope it wasn't the rear axle but launching at 5 grand sounds like it coulda been

Better an axle than tranny bits. Jeff I've got a set of stock SN-95 axles collecting dust if you need them.

Oh, and I picked up that coupe body you called me about yesterday...

Nice time Jeff! Did you have the stocker axles in it? I should've headed out to the track.

I am running 31 splines with an auburn pro. I'm pretty suree the rearend is fine! I will let you know next time I go to the track. Planning to run on slicks.

Steve from Eugene was talking about coming up soon and running his vortech car.

Congrats on those impressive numbers Jeff. Now its time to step up to the plate kit, and maby a 150 jet?? I say tens on drag raidals. Its only money, and its not mine. Good luck, i hope its not too broken.

Eric that looks like a good find. I'm happy that worked out for you. It also looks pretty straight and clean. Let me know if you need any help on it.

Jeff- I wanted to ask you at the track, but I didn't know how pissed off you were after the car broke: What rear springs/dampeners are you running? You seem to have about the ride height that I do, and I am curious. On the street, I run eibach road race springs with strange shocks. For the strip, I plan to swap in my D&D coil-overs and lakewoods.

The funny thing was I wasn't one bit mad it broke. I was so pumped from running nitrous all day it didn't really matter. I always felt that there has been a weak point in my tranny so I am hoping that this was it and I can fix it.
I run prothane isolators, only because my stock ones went to *****! When there was nothing left of them I finally replaced them. My springs are just the Eibach sportline springs. I have had them in there for a little over 5 years now.
