Worth it to get rid off 4.10s?

I have some 4.10 gears out back and Im very concerned about adding the blower this winter and running out of RPM before the finish line at the strip, im at about 5700 rpm at the traps now and Im seriously considering stepping down to 3.73s. Only reason I have 4.10s is because it used to be an Auto. So would it be in my best interest to go to 3.73's?

I think you may want to look at some 3.55's, 3.73's wouldnt be worth it.

A guy I know has an '88 5.0 with a Procharger, 5 speed and 4.10's. His car also used to be an automatic.
It runs low 12's with that setup.

Well I think I am, I got screwed on my gear install last time, guy said he'd do it for 250 so I said sweet, I get a bill for like 420 something, guy charged me 80 bucks for synthetic fluid. I was very very very pissed. I just talked to a friend whose dad has like 13 ASE certification said he'd do it for 50 bucks and it would take him less than an hour, so looks like i'll be going to 3.73s next year, I hate redoing things Ive already done but its a disease, I gotta go fast!

Why don't you just run taller tires at the track if you run out of gear?

I would at least try the combo out before changing the gears.
