hey all

just bought an explorer intake and measured the TB inlet to be 68 mm and its kind of rough. I was thinking i'd go ahead and get a 70 mm TB and EGR spacer since ill probably remove 2 mm when i clean up the opening. 70mm might be a bit much for my future combo, i realize, but i dont think itll hurt the low end or anything.

Anyways, ebay has brand new ones for around $160-$180 with the gaskets and EGR spacer. Summit wants that much just for the TB.

Would you consider this an ebay item, or something that one should pony up the extra bucks to be backed by a reputable company like summit?

TIA

You won't regret the 70mm TB. I just broke the sharp edge on the Explorer intake opening and the EGR spacer lined up perfectly with the hole. And look at it this way: If you ever upgrade your combo in the future, you can reuse the TB/EGR.

Anything you hear about the TB size affecting "low end" is a myth. Its not a carburetor, even though the common misconception is that it is.

Ebay is a great place to buy stuff, because paypal and things like that protect the buyer. If you find a good name brand TB/EGR on ebay for a good price, I'd go for it.
