I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that all GT's came equiped with a locking fuel. You know the one with the release button in the glove box.

mine doesn't have a locking fuel door. actually, now that kinda makes me wonder whereabouts i could buy one? my car is always garaged at home, but a little more security on the road is always nice (at work, friends' houses, etc.)

Maybe they just loosened the cap and left it hanging there to mess with you. Maybe that's all they did. Maybe they put brake fluid or engine oil or Coors light down there. Sadly, there is only one way to find out. Drop the tank and have a quick look. They probably just siphoned some fuel. Thanks for starting this thread though. I think I will invest in a locking fuel cap. Good luck.

"Anyone who goes through the trouble of prying open a locked fuel door has something more than a prank on his mind. " Prying open those is done in about 10 seconds with a flat blade screw driver. People stealing gas are happy to pry those open or break locking caps - it's easy to do.

Peeing in it raises the octane. Advance your timing. :)

I would check the fuel level, as mentioned before, and also drop the tank after you know that the fuel is not missing.

I do not have an OEM locking gas cap either, and the button in my glove box is for the trunk...:p

The power gas door was an option for the '79-89 Mustangs. Ford ditched it in '90. It was available on all models not just GT's although i think it was standard but could be deleted.

Did they have to pry the door open to get the gas cap off? Anyone who goes through the trouble of prying open a locked fuel door has something more than a prank on his mind. Drop the tank and check for evidence.

Actually, they discontinued the locking fuel door in 1990...by the way everything is fine, no sugar, all gas in there....i posistioned the cap a certain way so i can tell if someone messes with it....

Thanks to everyone with there suggestions :D
