First of all I would like to apologize in advance for my long angry rant, just hear me out.
Okay, the story goes:
My mother took my two kids last night for some weekend time (11 month boy, eight year old girl). I work midnight shift right now and i am employed by the federal government in law enforcement (comes into play later). I was woken up earlier by my mother and informed that my son was running a fever of 102. I told her to take him to a clinic immediately. I begin to get ready to head out as my mother lives an hour away from me.
After getting out of the shower I get another call and informed that the clinic is refusing to see my son. I ask my mother to hand the phone to the individual at the desk. I then ask this person, what's the problem over there? He tells me they can't see my son because the parents are not present. I tell this guy, I am an hour away can you please just see him while I drive there? He says they can't. I tell this guy, that is my child, and that is my mother taking care of him, at this time she is the guardian of that child. This guy tells me that my mother needs a note stating that she is the guardian so they can see him.
WTF! I almost lost my ! I didn't because I needed him to hand the phone back to my mother so I can tell her to go to a hospital. My son arrived at the hospital with a 103 fever. Thankfully he is okay, and the cause is a bacterial infection in his throat.
Here's my problem. I am in law enforcement, not a medical professional. I depend on medical professionals for my medical needs. For this reason I pay up the you know what for health insurance. I have taken criminal undocumented drug mules to receive FREE healthcare without a problem. My son is a U.S. Citizen with health insurance, I EXPECT him to be seen by a medical professional when needed. No exceptions within reason!
I understand liability issues, but come on. Am I being u reasonable here?
