X pipe question / cats or no cats ?

If you have an LM1, your gonna want a catted mid-pipe unless you like a stupid loud and raspy exhaust.

I would go with the SLP X pipe and get both the cats and the race pipes, that way YOU can decide what you like better, cats or no cats.

yea ur right i want some highflow cats...

its really hard cause im hearing good and bad things about pypes and upr....should i go with prochamber???

o and for the record slp cost alot....its like 400.00 at rpmoutlet...so u know n e where else i can get them????

and yes...if i end up getting pypes or upr.then im going for and x-pipe with highflow cats!

o and thanks whyask!

Will having cats make a big difference with the cabin noise? When I have other people in my car, I use the AC for their comfort. And at some RPM points (1800-2000), it hurts my ears, not to mention you have to yell over the sound.

I would not buy through RPM, your gonna have to pay tax on it. I would go through Mustangtuning and use the discount code (there are post on here or in the talk section with the code (s)) and get a 6-10% discount (you can search my name and find a post about SLP that also has the discount code in it). Or you can try to find a used one, I went this route, I got my down pipes and cats used, then bought the o/r X for long tubes from them, saved me ~$100. Look around and see what is out there.

Where in Texas are you?

Here is one of them.

order a shorty SLP x-pipe from mustangtuning.com

Then, use the "mustangboards" discount code for 6% off

there are a few more that give a deaper discount, you will just have to search the board for them.

well i live in houston...but im runnin a mach and it uses more compressed air som it will sound different then a gt...

so i want upr...but im not sure...what car do u have???

and what exhaust mods????:nice:

I went with the catted x-pipe after purchasing an O/R X and returning it. I really don't like the crackling the O/R pipes produce upon deceleration and the smell of an O/R pipe is not pleasant on a daily driver (especially on a convertible). Also, the small amount of back-pressure the catted pipe provides allows you to retain the little bit of low-end torque these cars produce. Just my .02

I have a GT and run the SLP o/r X w/ 2 chamber flows. Its not too bad but its not what I want, gonna replace the flows with a Borla Stinger and put the cats back on.

The SLP is really nice as it allows to to change out from cats to no cats and only takes about an hour once you get the hang of it.

SLP no longer sells OR X pipes or the race pipes. I called SLP and they state a law passed the forbids the selling of OR pipes. This includes the MIL eliminators also.
