Is that a Serbu .50 cal? You better get that quick, the brady campaign is trying to outlaw those ASAP. The company is shifting gears and primarily making recievers these days, so that when the law kicks into effect they can be grandfathered in. I would LOVE to shoot one of these.

:OT: I just read a book called "Marine Sniper," which is the story of GySgt Carlos Hathcock... he would mount a .50 cal machine gun with a sniper scope and pick off people 2500 yards away.. with regularity! This is in Vietnam; he had 93 confirmed kills.

That is a very good book! I have read it about 5-6 times. My fav is when he and the NVA sniper are stalking each other and he shoots the guy in the eye, through the reticle of his scope. That's how close HE came to being a "kill". Awesome shooting!

Another good read is "Trooper Down". It's about the NC State Troopers and things they go through to assure their officers make it back to the barracks.

Anybody shoot a .50 cal Magnum revolver, yet? I really want to do that, soon. My brother came home on leave with a .480 Ruger, but it's not a Magnum round. Still hits pretty hard, though.

I've heard that even guys that shoot big bore revolvers a lot don't like those new .500 magnums for more than a few rounds. I would LOVE to know how that feels. My uncle loaded-up some HOT .357's once that I loved. Used bullets that were on the "large" side of the tolerance....WOW!!!!!! Came up over my head! Sorry, "gun crazy" moment.

The .500 S&W honestly isn't that bad to shoot. My .454 Cassul Kicks about 2x as much as as my .500 does. The .480 ruger is a baby compared to these two, although it is ranked in power between the 44 Mag and the 454 Cassul. The recoil of the 500 is comparable to the 480- kind of a hard push in the hand, the cassul is just brutal, there is no nice way to describe shooting that round...Depending on the loads I can comfortably fire off between 20-40 rounds out of the 500, The 454 on the other hand WILL hurt you after 2 cylinders (10 rounds out of the Freedom Arms - ONLY carry 4 in the cylinder in the field).

Yeah I wouldn't mind a 454 Raging Bull either :D

Save yourself the headaches, save your $ and buy the Freedom Arms or a BFR if you really want this Cartridge in a revolver.-- went through a Raging bull, and a RUGER before I bought my Freedom Arms. They are roughly double the price but worth it. The Taurus and the Rugers DON"T hold up to the pounding of the full potential of this round. The winchester loads (the majority of the ammo available in shops) is lower pressure loadings because there were some cheaper guns made before the chambering became main stream. The Hornaday loads are MUCH hotter. I sent back a taurus to the factory twice because the locking mechanism kept loosening and the timing of the cylinder was off becasue of it, same with the Ruger.

Maybe both of these pistols were flukes, maybe not, but the only three pistols I would recommend for the Cassul are The Freedom Arms, BFR or T/C encore. That's hard for me to do because EVERY other revolver I own is a ruger and I will swear up and down on thier reliability, just not in the Cassul.
