Well my trans went on Sunday (pretty sure the input shaft went as it won't go into 1st and all other gears grind when engaging and no gear will move the car) there is also a nasty clanking at idle when not moving (clutch in or out).
Anyways I need a new trans and I'm not in a huge hurry so I want to research it and buy it right the first time. Future goals for the car may include a higher compression 347 hopefully with about 550 hp. So I want a trans that won't have to be upgraded again in the future.
Anyways my choices so far are:
I need the trans to be pretty streetable (driven 75% on the street about 5,000 miles per year) but still handle high(er) RPM shifts (6200 now and maybe higher later on).
I have seen threads saying the TKO 600 is like butter to shift and others say its difficult to engage at higher RPM's. I have read that ProMotion sells Shift Lugs that eliminate this problem so its in the running regardless. I have also read that Tremec has fixed this problem in the latest build of the TKO 500/600
So I'm looking for choices here. I WILL NOT go Auto, so please don't start down that road. Also, not really interested in a T-56 because of cost and weight.
I believe the TKO may require a new bell housing but I am going to be getting a scatter shield anyways so that is a non-issue.
Any other suggestions are welcome, but please give reasons to back it up.
Thanks so much for your help!

Anyways my choices so far are:
- Synchronized Helical Gear G-Force T5 with hardened main shaft
- TKO 600 from AstroPerformance (with synchros) and the upgraded Shift Lugs from ProMotion to prevent the poor shift issue
- TKO 600 from MMR with upgraded hardened & de-burred gears rated at 900 HP
