Is it okay to have a wheel stick out past the fender just ever so slightly?

I was just wondering if there's anything wrong with having a tire slightly stick out of the fender (in the rear) like about .25 inch. Not something too dramatic, but just looking rather "big" out back.

I used to have 305/35/R18 Nitto drag radials out back and they stick out completely to the fender. Now since it rained, I changed to 295/35/R18 and they don't stick out to the edge of the fender anymore. I'm rather a bit dissappointed.

yes, its okay. But its all on your taste. Just wear them out and make the next pair some 305/35/18's

looks ok to me, as long as the fronts are tucked in or even and not all low-ryder style. Rears look BA if they stick out a bit, especially if they have some fat meat under them, not no little 275's with spacers, im talking about 315's.

I still have the Nitto 305 drag radials sitting in the garage. They'll be back on my car next summer. However, since it's not even close to next summer, I want some meaty radials stuck out back.

I think it would look alright.
Although, they may rub on the fenders when you're entering driveways at an angle. depends how low you are though with the pro kits.

As long as when your suspension compresses you don't slam your fender into the sidewall of your tires!

My buddy has a 5.0 with meaty tires in back... The edges are chewed up where they contact the fender over nasty bumps.

If your suspension gives you clearance, you're OK.

Don't want to damage you tires / fenders just for the "look".

Some states it is illegal to have tires sticking out beyond the fender well. I have Nitto NT01 315’s on the back and have to take them off after every days racing, I keep them on 10’5 wide wheels and just remove them and put the stock wheels back on with 245’s.

The fender flares on the 94-98 are wider than the 99-04 stangs.

I am not using wheel spacers on my 04 and the tires to go beyond the fenders. You also have to caculated the back spacing of the wheel and mine are 6.85" with a wheel offset of 1.1".

Also the rear end housing on 99-04's is about 1 1/2 inches wider than 94-98's, or roughly 3/4 of an inch on each side...

I am considering running some spacers on my 95 because I hate how it looks like the front 17x9's stick out further than the rear 17x10.5's....

get a 315/30/18 BFG tire. it will look great on your car!!

BFG runs wide for their size. nitto is very skinny for what they claim to be.

my old BFG's were 3/4" wider than my current firestones. both are 295/35/18

definatly put some spacers on there, i put a set on mine and it looks so much better with the spacers

I heard that both Eibach and H&R make a great set.

Get hubcentric wheel spacers and get a good brand (like Eibach and H&R) and you'll be okay.

The problem I had with my 275's is when I went to get them rotated and balanced, the local Discount Tires will not mount a tire on a hub that has a wheel spacer on it. They'll take the spacer off and then mount the tire. It became a matter of going home, removing the rears and putting the spacers back on.

Too much work...that is all the excuse I needed for getting 315's.
