So I have 1300 miles on the car now....was sitting at a light with my friend in his EVO next to me....we were going to lunch....BIG CAT THIS IS NOT A STREET RACING STORY....anyway the light changes and I dump the clutch for the first time...around 3500rpms.....man oh man....smoke...spin...noise...power...fun as hell....course as soon as it caught traction I shut it down....it was just about making my pal eat smoke not racing.

I love my V8.

Yeah man. I had 470hp in my last S197 with a Vortech but it was an automatic. I didn't have anywhere near as much fun as I am now with the 5 speed.

Maybe it's that overpriced Shelby plaque on the dash that inspires. :D

theres just something about shifting your own gears that appeals to me, even if i cant shift as fast as an auto.

He would of feed the evo his lunch, get him on the track and call pinks. An evo would look good in your driveway, or...............a shelby in his. With pinks, gives you all kinds of incentives to win hee hee.

I'm an exhaust freak and one thing I love about 5spds is being able to control how loud your car is at all times without having to get on it.. You can really get back at your A-hole neighbors this way.:nice:

i don't know how much more horse power you would need to walk an Evo at a track - with a stock suspension.. damn. just watch the evo fade away each corner.
turn in, and turn out.

by track - i mean road course.. not a strip..

track = twisties
strip = drag strip...

Stop calling a strip a track! because it's not! :nonono:

Bangin through gears is the best part.

As far as the all wheel drive turbo 4 bangers, go to www.subaru.com and watch the new video they put up with the shelby GT vs the new STI.:(

yeah, but, throw a turbo set up on that shelby and its a whole different ball game. they need forced injection to keep up with a N/A mustang. notice they didnt run it against the GT500.

i have a base GT that wasnt anywhere near 40k. give me FI and different suspension. i'd kick that STI's ass for less than $40k. a buddy of mine has a Mazda Speed 3 turbo... kicks my ass all over town, but he will tell you comparing FI lightweight cars to N/A HEAVY cars is no comparison. Lets see the STI against the Mazda speed 3 and that is an apples to apples comparison. plus how much is left in that 4cyclinder? i betting they are pretty much to limit the shelby gt is only a cold air kit and a tune away from a standard GT. PLENTY left on the table

Man, everyone out there is always hating on mustangs. My bro has a wrx and always dissing domestics. We are Asian and he fits right in with the import scene, but me, I drive 2 mustangs and I couldn't be happier. The power and sound is what got me. Everyone always tells me that they never met a Asian that's into mustangs, oh well at least I stand out from the Asian crowd:D

The new Evo GSRs and Subie STIs are scary fast. Although the GSR is faster (and that's why they chose to put a vid of it against a Stang instead of the proper car everyone always compares and cross shops it with!).

The EVO has been posting 0-60s of 4.5 versus the STIs 5.0. But that's all those magazine drivers. Still, it's all relative. The EVO also doesn't turn in to a understeering terror when pushed like the STI.

I mean really this comparo is retarded and makes no sense. The only thing I can think of is the tards at Edmunds wanted to do yet another, "look how much better import sports cars are at performance driving than American muscle cars." Well, DUH! Did we really need to see that again? A guy who buys these new Stangs is looking for the classic muscle car look and feel. And the S197 does a perfect job of it. Hey maybe they could head-to-head a motor-home and a F-150 and see who wins?

ANYWAY...

EVOs and STIs are fricking boy racer toys! They look ridiculous inside and out. Especially with a 34 year old white fat man behind the wheel. Those cars are for the youth and their poster hot girl friends. Or those refusing to let go as time takes its toll. ;)

Where were they when I was in high school or college? (yes, both the cars and the girls)

i'll get some things straight here, seeing as i own both a GT daily driver, and STi track car. (And its THE track car for a good reason)

How much is lef tin the 4cyl? well, if you want to spend 5-8grand, you can bolt on and tune about 500AWHP. which would be a rough 600hp at the crank. That's border line of destruction.

as for a suspension. well. i really don't care much for the mustang's turning ability. my sti Wants to corner. It's kind of like when your going around a corner and you get the urge to drift in the stang - so you do.. and its fun as hell.
the sti wants to corner, and while it is, your chest is against the door so to speak.

When the sti brakes. Tremendous. Right from the get-go. the brembo's have amazing feel, and the balance is pretty much on spot, and the chassis follow's through throughout the entire corner.
mustang.. lol, well - i don't know if you can consider nose-diving as effective braking.

so - 2k for the suspension. 4k for the brakes... Are we on par yet with the subi in price? I won't really include the better chassis design, or more responsive steering, as well. you can't really do **** to change either. an all options come standard on a STI..
mustang - poor man, go fast. they give you the option to have cheap performance.
im sure if subi designer's wanted that, they could include hand crank window's, cheap carpets, a plastic steering wheel, handbrake and shifter and plenty of other POS items that should be in a kia. but well they didn't.

well.. it is a hundred or two pounds lighter - even with an awd system.
there is No Funny **** going on when i say that off the line. an sti IS stunning. If you don't bog down, it could be the true definition of a launch.

now to compare a shelby and an sti.. that's as idiotic as comparing a ferrari to a shelby.. Their both in different classes. If you want to spend 10k on the sti, it could walk a shelby around a track. if you want to spend 10k on a shelby too, then you walk the modded sti.. Get where i'm going?

Hands down comparision.
STI -1
GT - 0

One of my brother's good friends is in your boat too. He's got a '01 auto GT vert that he absolutely loves. That thing is his baby and I'm sure he's heard it all before too, about how he needs to get into the imports. But he's got the Stang for what seems to be the same reason you do, power and sound. It's all about what a particular person likes. You guys like Mustangs and are Asian.... so what. As long as you respect the other stuff out there, no one will have a problem with you or what you drive or are into. Plain and simple.

Sorry got a little carried away......lol. Drive what you want because it's what you want to drive.
