I would like to get your opinion and views on whether or not you think that my 2002 Mustang V6 with 49,300 original miles on it is totalled or not??
Some jerk in a Chevy pickup truck ran a Stop sign at an intersection and they drove into the middle of the intersection and I happened to hit them head on at about 25 mph. BOTH airbags inside my car deployed. The front of my car is all smashed up.

I am unsure of what damaged parts on the front of my car are considered to be the frame. Maybe from the pictures that I've posted here you can identify for me which parts on my car which are damaged are part of the frame.

If you look at the pictures which I posted here, the horizontal front bumper bar and the part of the rail which holds the bumper bar is pushed upwards and inwards towards the middle part of the car. On the other side on the driver's side, the rail which holds the horizontal front bumper bar is bent outwards and part of it is cut/torn off from the rail. Also, the front right passenger side fender is badly damaged and the right front driver's side front fender is twisted and there is also a very small pinch/crease in it on the top part of the fender near where the fender meets with the hood hinge on the driver's side.

I also have a dent on my right rear quarter panel. The windshield also has a spiderweb crack in it from the accident. It looks like the air conditioner condenser is badly damaged. I am not sure about the radiator though. I cannot see how bad the radiator is damaged. The hood does NOT open. It is stuck shut. ALSO, the bottom part of the radiator support looks like it is pushed upwards on the passenger side while it looks like it's pushed downwards on the driver's side. At the time of the impact all the coolant leaked out on to the road. I took a peek into the engine compartment from the driver's side where the hood is pushed up a bit and I noticed that the rubber radiator hose that's located on top of the radiator which goes into the engine has snapped off. I also noticed that the plastic coolant bottle is pushed up against the front part of the engine.
I hope that the description that I am giving of all the damage to my car together with the pictures will allow you to tell me whether or not you think that my Mustang is totaled. I purchased the car brand new back in January of 2002 and it was in mint condition up until the accident.

Do you think that it will cost more to fix my car than what it is currently worth??
Please look at all of the pictures that I've attached here and tell me whether or not you think that my car is repairable or whether or not it is totalled. I'm hoping that it will be totalled so I can buy another brand new car.

That's funny, I just clicked on the first pic too and said "Oh God" so yeah, I think it's totaled. Air bags deployed is usually a good sign that it's totaled. Time to upgrade, V8 2v?

yeah its totaled. I know how u feel. When i crashed my c230 i was like no it can't be totaled i think i can salvage it but then yeah it was totaled. Sucks that happened but good thing ur alright.

From the pictures that I posted here, which parts that are damaged on my car do you think are part of the frame? I'm unsure what parts of the car are part of the frame and what parts are not part of the frame.
The insurance appraiser is going to be going out to see the car sometime this week and I want to make sure that I know which parts of the car are part of the frame which are "UNREPAIRABLE" just in case the appraiser tries to tell me that my Mustang is NOT totalled and that it can be fixed. I'm afraid that the insurance appraiser will not total my Mustang. I don't trust my auto insurance company when it comes to them deciding whether or not they will total my car that easily.

When I looked at my car earlier today, I didn't notice anything wrong with any of the shock towers. The shock towers look intact.
From what I can tell, whatever damage exists, it is located forward from the shock towers on the front part of the car. The hood is stuck and it wouldn't open, so I couldn't see what type of damage exists, if there is any behind each of the front side fenders inside the engine bay. Whatever damage that I can see with my eyes is located on the front part of the car and on the outside of both fenders and on the right rear quarter panel just above the rear left wheel. Look at each picture carefully and you will see what I mean.

it really depends on the insurance claim adjuster... but i would shoot for totaled.. good news is usually you can buy the car back for next to nothing and pay to get it fixed with a new front end on it and money to spare...

lol, are you serious, cause i only looked at the first pick, and i was like holy crap.

plus, were tryin to get this guy to upgrade to a v8. time for him to put down the toy (v6) and pick up a machine(v8).

That's what I'm worried about now.......the insurance appraiser and adjuster. I'm afraid that they will tell me that my car is NOT totalled. I'm hoping that the damage that exists on my car will exceed what it's worth. I did a KBB and a NADA pricing on my 2002 V6 Mustang with the 49,300 original miles that it's got on it and I came out with a $9,350 to $10,750 KBB and NADA RETAIL value for my car in excellent condition "before" the accident.
What are the chances that the damages to my car are going to be much less than the KBB and NADA retail value of $9,350 to $10,750??
Also, how will the insurance appraiser and adjuster appraise the value of my car? Will they use the retail value or the trade-in value? The KBB and NADA trade-in value is between $7,325 to $7,525 in "excellent" condition. And the KBB trade-in value in "Good" condition is $6,805. But I couldn't find the NADA trade-in value for my car in "Good condition". I was ONLY able to find the KBB trade-in value.
From the pictures which I posted here, do you think that it will cost LESS money than what my Mustang is worth to fix my car? Or do you think that all the body damage which my car sustained will exceed what my car is really worth??

Being that its a V6 which makes it not very valuable (no offense), i would say its totaled... thats some expensive damage. My car was barely hit in the rear which only cracked my bumper, broke the spoiler, bent the bumper reinforcment, & broke the energy absorber, & that was like almost $2,000 worth of damages if i remember correctly.... i would say your damage is at least 3-4 times worse than mine so the price to fix would be more valuable than the car itself...

I thought that if the core support was damaged that bad, it was pretty much a total loss???

my aunt was pulling her V6 04 stang with a uhaul on a dolly and the dolly slid out on some ice and slammed the car into a gaurdrail ruined the rear bumper, bumper support. and bent the rear axle, put a little dent on the rear quarter and it was totaled no question.. it cost her 500 to fix with used parts she actually made money on the deal i believe she made over 7,000.. with me doing the labor she only has the dent on the quarter .. when i was under it, it wasnt really that bad..

We had one at work not long ago with less front end and rear damage, and it was totalled, so I grabbed a couple interior peices before they hauled it away.

So you really beleive that all of the parts that you mentioned above here (the bumper crash bar, the passenger side right front rail, the driver's side left front rail, and the radiator core support) definitely "cannot" be repaired by pulling and bending them back into shape with a frame machine?? I'm afraid that the insurance appraiser and adjuster will screw me by telling me that all of this stuff is fixable by just bending them back into shape with a frame machine. I don't trust my insurance company. I'm hoping that my Mustang will be totalled. I'm hoping that the damage will exceed what my Mustang is worth.
ALSO, will my insurance company compare the total repair costs of my car with the current "retail value" or with the current "trade-in value" of my car?? Which one does the insurance company use when they try to compare the damage repair costs with the current value of the car? Do they base it upon the current "retail value" or the current "trade-in value"?? Does anybody know this?
