I dont know if it bothers anyone else but wtf is up with exhaust companies. I understand r/d cost money and all but these people want like $190+ for a o/r x pipe. Nothing special but 2 pipes that cross each other. Does this not seem retarded? Headers I can understand being a little pricey, mufflers I can understand, but just simple pipes that are welded together? WTF.

This is the first time I have avidly looked at aftermarket off the shelf parts like this. I have allways gone the custom route because I can use a Tig at any time but I am 2500 miles away from it now and am dieing to do something with the exhaust.

Not likely. When you consider that Bassani makes the exhaust system out of stainless steel and it has a lifetime warranty and the fit and finish is perfect, then I doubt that they will lower the price anytime soon. O.K. maybe 15-50 bucks lower but not to the point of making it affordable to you. With exhaust you get what you pay for. I once spent 8 hrs trying to put 5.0 headers on that were the "cheap" kind, you know, under $125.00. They would not fit, period. I got a set of quality headers (read that much more expensive) and then went on in under 1 hr. plus they will last 10 times as long as the "cheapo" type.

You could always go buy yourself a couple of 6-foot sticks of 2 1/2" stainless at $75 each, then spend another $250 for a cheapo pipe bender that will crimp the tubes where they're bent or spend $5,000 on a nice mandrel bender, a couple of hundred for a flanger and another $450 for a decent welder and make it yourself. Makes sense to me.

There are whole intercooler kits on ebay for sale with a number of mandrel bends for like $200, jcwhitney sells piping real cheap, so a company that mass produces 2 45 degree bends that have been cut and welded together are charging $190+ for them? The over head on the product as far as manufactoring equipment has been recouped a long time ago because for a company of these sizes a computer ran tig, $15000 mandrel bender, and raw piping is nothing.

I understand sell it for what you can get for it but jesus christ that just seems like a little much considering the materials that are going into it and being I have done custom exhaust for a couple customers, freinds, and myself the amount of work really is nothing. I'll end up doing it custom ion this case to but I will have to be happy with a mig insted of a better tig welder.

Dude, I don't know if you've ever looked at a Mustang mid-pipe, but it's a helluva lot more than two 45* bends.

You're absolutely right, it's outrageous! Now, start a company with bassani level quality mid-pipes and sell them for $50 each. I'll buy one just for the novelty of it, and your competition will bring down their ridiculous prices. Call them "marty's mid-pipes"

I agree. I think exhaust is double the money versus when I got into Mustangs in 2000. I remember buying a Flowmaster cat-back for under 200 dollars....now they are like 350-279+...WTF??

See that is what I was trying to say I guess. Plus I am not speaking on the whole mid pipe I am talking about just the x pipe and around a foot on each side of it.

Gotta think people, there is more than just the cost of material involed. On top of the R&D, the is manufacturing cost, ( bending, welding, packaging..etc) then transportion to retailor( fuel isnt cheap), and the retailors mark up.

The tailpipes.. the FRIGGEN tailpipes i just bought were like 250. Not even the full exhaust , from the muffler back.

I totally understand where you are coming from. The only mods to my car are exhaust because its so expensive. When i was 17-18 back in 99-00 exhaust didn't cost as much. At least i feel like it didn't.

Price gouging. Let me ask. I am in Idaho but live in TN, going back in January. If I were to design and fabricate a exhaust for a 87-93 fox and sent it to somebody would you do a review. Cause I know I have the ability to design a free flowing exhaust that will be fair priced.

Mustang exhaust is CHEAP!

I've been looking up pricing on G35 exhaust systems and i would gladly pay $190 for a mid-pipe, and $300 for a cat-back.

A fullexhaust system is like $1500 for single exhaust!
