Got money to play need some help.

I unfortunately had to go to the bank and take out a small loan to establish a fourth line of credit before I would be able to buy a home on my own at low interest. Anyways cutting to the chase I took out 2500 dollars I got a near stock 04 mustang gt. Only thing I've seen on it is shocks and springs. I'd like to do a good bit of bolt-on's to pep it up and I'm not sure of how to go about selecting my sizes for the Maf and TB I'm pretty well set that I'll never boost the car but perhaps give it a little spray maybe a 50 or 75. Anyways any ideas on what sizes I should use for those few items though. I do plan on buying a tuner as well so recommendations appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most people get 75mm TB but personally i think you get better numbers if your not going to get a blower with the 70mm...i cant remember where but i remember seeing someones dyno sheet after the 70mm tb and they got a good 5-8rwhp from it, where as the 75mm it seems people see less than 5rwhp at best

Your best bang for your buck mods are going to be a midpipe, weld in mufflers (i think catbacks are a waste of money), professional products plenum and throttle body (i also think its a waste of money spending 450$ on the accufab stuff), underdrive pulleys, a drop in k&n filter (cold air intakes are pretty much a waste of money as well, just get the drop in filter and save your money), a short throw shifter (makes a big difference)....those are your basic bolt-ons

Is the car a 5speed or auto? Go with some aftermarket gears and a programmer to top it off. Depending on install price//you'll have quite a bit left over and can do exhaust of your choice.

The car is a 5 speed I considered gears but I do alot of highway driving approximately 40 mins to get to my job than I gotta make that journey back home. As of now I didn't plan on doing headers I was leaning to an offroad H-pipe and some magnaflow mufflers. The intake I found a little cheapy kit for like 80 bucks doesn't look to bad. Thanks for the advice on the TB how about the MAF should I match it as well? As far as pulleys I'm leanin towards the steeda ones atm going by some previous mustang magazine articles that was one of the larger gains someone got out of their gt as they did individual dyno pulls with each bolt on. As far as my tuner goes I'm lookin at the diablo ones is that somethin I should get last and have a custom tune made for all the bolt-on's I get?

MGW short throw shifters are great for daily driving. I have one and I love it.
Mustang Short Throw Shifter

I also have a MAC O/R H-Pipe and a Magnaflow Cat-back, I did not like the MagnaPacks at all, the straight through muffler has a deeper sound with the H-Pipe.

When I buy pulleys I will go with Steeda Pulleys as they worked directly with Ford according to information I found on them.

I suppose a tuner would be good to have, but personally I am going with the SpeedCal from Dallas Mustangs to correct things once I install 4.10 gears. I will say that there are a lot of different things to use a tuner for beyond gears though, but that was the main reason I was looking into a tuner.

The power gains between the TB/Plenums seem to be less than 5rwhp, so I think that has more to do with your preference and what you find from the reviews of others. I plan to do Accufab, but there are MANY guys on here and other sites that are perfectly happy with a different setup.

Most importantly have fun with the car! I have had mine for over a year now and it's the best Mustang I have ever owned, and I have owned 17 in my life so far.

Like I always say. First mods should be FLSFC's, shorth throw, gears, and suspension. You want to get the power you already have to the graound before trying to make more power that you cannot effectively put to the wheels.:nice:

If you are going to get a cold air intake i would definitely get a cheap one
off ebay or a drop in k&n filter, there is NO reason to spend big bucks on an expensive full blown k&n intake when the gains are very minimal at best.

As for your MAF, leave it stock, you won't see any gains on a stock car from upgrading the MAF. The only reason people upgrade MAF (on the gt's atleast) is when you put a blower or do some serious mods to your car.

The Diablo tuners are great, but im in my experience most professional tuners use the SCT software so if it was me id just go with SCT incase you decide to get it professionaly dyno tuned in the future.

No reason to get a custom tune unless you do some serious modding (cams, heads, lt headers, nitrous, blower)

Good advice. Also you could always find out what software your local dyno tuner uses and buy that so your npt wasting you $$. I got the Sniper kit and love it, but I don't really have the time to make my own tunes, so I may be switching. I got a little plan in the makings:D

put another 1K with it and get a blower. dont waste your money on other bolt ons that dont give 1/4 the power if a blower

edit. just saw you dont want to boost it.

is there a reason behind that? mod motors LOVE boost and will last as long as a regular NA engine as long as you keep the power to under 425 rwhp.

I agree with the blower. If I had it to do over again I would have done that right out of the box. Heck you don't even need the extra 1k, I bet you can find a nice near complete set up on ebay for 1500 or so. Probably get you to maybe 340 or so at the rear wheels (i don't know hp for sure on a stock stang but that sounds about right )

+1 on the previous 2 post

You should definitely reconsider a blower. It'd be better to decide now than to decide later on that you want one. Otherwise N2O isn't a bad mod.

A good short throw shifter and a clutch quadrant/firewall adjuster are good cheap mods along with pullies and a good cai will help out as well.

When it comes to exhaust I think it's worth getting the whole thing replaced.(longtubes, mid-pipe, and cat-back)I also recommend checking out mustangexhaust.com or some youtube exhaust vids to make sure you get the right sound combo you want.

I have a 99 Cobra with 3.73s and drive 30 miles to work and 30 back. The 3.73s aren't bad. Both, SCT and Diablosport are good tuners. I'd recommend checking out which tuner your local shops supports.
