Wheels/Lowering Question...

Here's the problem. As you can see in the pics, my mustang rides way high in the front. Now that we took 70lbs off the front end it's worse than the pics show.

I have powder coated black 17x9 4 lug cobra r's all the around. I cannot find this wheel in a 17x8 or a 16x8 for the front. I am worried about rubbing issues.

Are any of you running 17x9 cobra r's on the front with lowering springs? If so, what size tire do you use and how bad is the rubbing? What kind of lowering springs? I don't want to go back to the pony rims because I'll have to buy 4 new tires to fit them.

I'm running the 17x9" Cobra r's on my orange'87 vert. Its lowered with FRPP "B" springs.
The only rubbing is on the front when turned lock to lock.
The inside of the wheel rubs the "A" arms. It's pretty common with these wheels.
I'm running 235/45's up front and 255/40's in the rear. I plan on running the 255/40s up front too as soon as I use up my current front tires.

The 255/40s clear all around real nice.

I had 9's on my 89 with 255/40's up front, had no issues rubbing the wheel wells or anything, just the wheel rubbed the a arm, just had to not turn the wheel as far.

I ran a 16x8 up front... i got mine from discount tire, about 88 bucks a rim.

Steeda Sport Springs, and it didn't rub much, just a full lock , 245/50-16 all around.

I ran a 17X8 and a 17X9 wheel up front on cars with Steeda Lowering Springs with no rubbing issues. I also had 96-04 spindles tho, versus 94-95 stuff. My wheels/tires were outward 8mm more, so maybe that's why they didn't rub.

It is. Tire brand makes a difference too tho. Get a brand that runs small, like Nitto.

I ran 17x9 all around 275's in the back and 245's in the front, on Eibach pro kit. Looks slick and didnt rub. I ran with people in the back sometimes and it was rough but doable, fronts only rub on the inner fender well.

And now I am ordering. I guess I'll go Eibach since they drop it almost 2 inches. If it rubs too bad I'll switch to the stock ponies

Don't change to Ponys, I like your car with the black wheels. Just lower it and figure out the rubbing issues if/when you have them.

Also consider you can get steering rack limiters to help with the rub at full lock.

Didn't order springs... I'm going to wait until another issue is fixed, then take the front springs out and find out if they are the rear springs because this car sits WAY too high.

cj's sells their own "brand" of springs. really they are just eibachs....check em out.
